Guest guest
No, there is apparently a problem with Forums at the moment. Their HO put out a message to forum owners to say that some messages have been found to be missing, but that they are working on this. If ever you wonder whether your message has been received by the forum or not - just type in your name in the Message Board where you see the little search engine at the top of the page. That way, you can get access to all the messages you have posted to see if they are all there. It depends on whether you are in the UK, the USA or elsewhere as to the time. are a US based forum and mainly show US time. Luv - Sheila Thanks Sheila, some of the messages don't have the correct time that I actually posted them and some haven't appeared at all so I think something funny might have happened maybe with my internet connection or something?! :-)

Guest guest
Hi Jot, Good to know I'm on the right track. I'll have a read of the adrenal stuff. I do have a few questions though: Can adrenal fatigue cause a sluggish thyroid? Or does it only happen the other way round? Is it unwise/unsafe to start taking adrenal support without actually having a blood test? I started taking the B vits only a few days ago so don't think they've kicked in yet. How long do you think until I should notice a difference? I'm not taking celtic sea salt or unrefined himalayan rock salt - would this push my blood pressure up? I thought too much salt was bad for you? What would you recommend taking? Also, do you know where your T3 should fall within the range to feel best? Thanks, Diamond > > Hi D: > > No, I do not think you are off at all...This screams of adrenal fatigue to me...and also thyroid fatigue. Here is a link to the section on Adrenals in our file :

Guest guest
Does anyone know if Dr. Skinner would be able to treat me with these blood results? Guest guest
Hi Diamond Read the information in our web site about the thyroid/adrenal connection. Go to www.tpa-uk.org.uk and on the Home Page, click 'Hypothyroidism'. In the drop down Menu, click 'Associated Conditions'. In the page that opens, click 'Adrenals' and then click THYROID AND ADRENAL DYSFUNCTION; THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF AN ENDEMIC SYNDROME'. You will learn everything you need to know from there. Guest guest
I would hope that he would be able to treat you....give him the list of symptoms you gave us and go through each and everyone of them. You'll need to get the Adrenal Fatigue under control first. Always get the adrenals in shape before starting on thyroid meds. I wouldn't let him give you T4 meds, (synthetic meds.) This is my own opinion....there is a world of difference between T4 meds and T4/T3 meds...let him know you won't put up with the T4 meds.... Don't sell your soul for *STANDARD OF CARE* practices. You deserve better, you deserve much better than that. Cheers, JOT > Does anyone know if Dr. Skinner would be able to treat me with these > blood results? Guest guest
> Can adrenal fatigue cause a sluggish thyroid? Or does it only happen> the other way round? It can happen either way, but generally your adrenals become compromised which will lead to the thyroid malfunctioning...and it most usually happens when you're not looking :0) > Is it unwise/unsafe to start taking adrenal support without actually> having a blood test? This is a touchy subject because one one hand, it's good to know where your levels are, it's generally a saliva test with 4 viles/tubes which you spit into during the course of 24 hours. They test to see what levels are good and which are poor. Helps to know this when treating with HC or isocort or even NAX. On the other hand, it's a bit expensive and the NHS isn't going to pay for it. If you have a good DR who will look at the results, this will be information for him to treat with HC if the results are poor. You shouldn't start any adrenal supplements before the test because you could get a false positive and then be rejected for the HC treatment.> > I started taking the B vits only a few days ago so don't think they've> kicked in yet. How long do you think until I should notice a> difference? It depends on your system and your own sensitivity. I feel things immediately. When I take a B12 tablet, I feel more energy imediately. They may take a little bit to kick in, but I'm sure your body is just loving it :0)> > I'm not taking celtic sea salt or unrefined himalayan rock salt - would> this push my blood pressure up? I thought too much salt was bad for> you? What would you recommend taking? This seems very counter-intuitive doesn't it? That's because all our lives and for the last century we've been given the wrong information. (gee, what a surprise)......White table salt (refined salt) has been stripped of all the trace minerals...these are the trace minerals which the body desperately needs to function properly. Unrefined salt still has all its properties which includes the trace minerals. Anywhere from 84-90 trace minerals which we need to survive healthfully. Both Celtic Sea Salt and Himalayan pink rock salt are the good refined salts. It is important to get these trace minerals into your body. You can do it by salt, which is the best way or you can buy trace mineral drops. The second link here will discuss blood pressure, etc.http://www.healthfree.com/celtic_sea_salt.htmlhttp://celticseasalt.posterous.com/any-questions-about-salt-and-health-dr-browns > Also, do you know where your T3 should fall within the range to feel> best? There isn't an anwser to this D. It is different for everyone and blood tests don't always tell us what is happening in your body or reveal the real story. Blood tests measure the amount floating around in your blood. If this is actually getting into the cells or not, we don't have a test for that. We do the best with what we have, but it's how you feel and how you function, which gives us the answer to that.Cheers,JOT > > Thanks,> > Diamond
Guest guest
Hi Jot, there are many people who start L-thyroxine who do absolutely fine because they have no problems with conversion and can exist very happily on T4-only meds. It is those who cannot get on with T4 that actually join forums like this because they don't know where to turn when their doctor refuses to give them any other form of thyroid hormone replacement. I think that for everybody who is starting thyroid hormone replacement for the very first time, they should and must give the synthetic T4-only therapy a go to see how they respond. If they don't, then to try synthetic T4/T3 combination, T3 alone, or natural thyroid extract.
