contact the Mfg. They all are treated. Everything you dive has

bromine. I worked for a chemical company in Research and all

vinyl seats and door and dashes have that new car aroma?

That's thalates, bromide and all sorts of plasticizers. so don't

worry about bromides, They are all over the place in bakery

foods. Breads dunkin donuts, Cryspy cream donuts, soda, Hogies,

subway. Anything you can think of it has bromine. flour is

white because of chlorine used to bleach it. Just look at a

mountain dew label and see how much brominated stuff it has in

one bottle. Best place to be? MARS not yet settled by humans.

I work in a store in Ithaca N.Y. that sells natural mattresses- only natural latex (rubber from a rubber tree) organic cotton and organic wool.Wool is a natural flame retardant, and can be used in place of chemical flame retardants. We sell mattresses made by WJ Southard of Syracuse N.Y. , Savvy Rest of Virginia, and there are others (Royal Pedic in California, etc) Savvy Rest has a very good website where you can learn about the mattresses, and what's in them, and what's not in them, and how they are made. We have pillows made of kapok (fiber from the seed pod of the Ceiba Tree) and organic cotton, wool and organic cotton, and latex and organic cotton. I think there are laws forcing bedding manufacturers to make a product with a degree of flame inhibition. I think chemicals are the cheapest & easiest way to accomplish this. Not always true. I just recently ordered a new Craftmatic mattress for our bed. They are made on order from their factory here in the US. With a doctor's prescription they can eliminate fire retardants and other chemicals. Since I have multiple chemical sensitivities my doctor wrote me a prescription and it is being made now as we speak. Sorry to say though, Craftmatic is not cheap mattress but they really try to please. V

I would say call Craftmatic. 1-800-245-0205. I got a discount because my

mattresses were not 15 years old (which is how long they guarantee them). They

do everything by phone now anyway to cut costs, and are very easy to talk to. I

have been well pleased with their service so far. I have not received our

mattresses as yet as they are still being made. I ordered 2 twin mattresses and

use one king size headboard. My husband and I would drive each other nuts

adjusting them all the time. LOL I would think this mattress conversation is off

topic....sorry. V
