I have lightheadedness when I raised too quickly from a lying or

seated position and my vision got dark. Could this be from iodine?

Can iodine give low aldosterone? Can iodine lower cortisol? Can iodine give

adrenal fatigue?

I also have (had) low blood pressure.

Thank you,

how much of iodine are you taking? Do you buy a certain brand of salt?

Or just unrefined sea salt?

Hi Ariel,

I have low potassium too, before starting iodine+salt.

I did aldosterone test but I just found that it doesn't count because I didn't

follow the protocol for aldosterone test.

The doctors never gave me medicine for low blood pressure. Is this necessary?

What do you use for adrenal fatigue?

Hi Linn,

I just tested the blood pressure sitting and standig and my diastolic raise by 7

points when I check just after raising my body.If I had low aldosterone it

wouldn't raise?

I had this diziness and dark vision several times when I took for the first time

Cytomel, and now since I raised Iodoral from 6,25 to 12,5 mg.

Before I had low ferritin (15) but I didn't have diziness. Now my ferritin is 55

but I can't take any iron supplement because my iron serum is high (I took too

much 3 months ago).

Janio from STTM put this on the site:

" Iodine and adrenal dysfunction: Adrenals patients report a worsening of their

sluggish adrenal/HPA function due to the important toxin release caused by

iodine use. Other adrenal patients report that the proper use of the same

supporting nutrients overcame the problem, and they were even able to lower

their HC. "

you took 50mg of iodine for 5 years?

>

> I have been taking iodide for almost 5 years which improved some of the

thyroid sympmtoms I have. I would have my bad times and my better times, but

never really was doing great. Last year from sept. through february of this year

I was doing pretty well, crediting my 3x weekly swimming sessions for the

improvement. However, late February I totally crashed. At that time I had to

switch from the iodide drops to the iodine/iodide tablets and gradually

increased until I was on 50mg.

not a single day that I did not feel totally out of energy. I would feel fine,

doing nothing, sitting on the sofa and picking lint, but as soon as I had to get

up and do something, there was not the energy to make me function.

hard on the adrenals but I questioned that statement. When I went through

Dr.Rind's website, it dawned on me that I had an adrenal problem all along, most

likely for the last 30 years. I kept the temperature graph and started taking

adrenal support, and slowly my

thyroid problems has that?) But when your adrenals are already weakened, I now

see that too much iodine will make them even worse.

How much salt are you using on a daily basis?

Are you taking HC, if so how much?

Were you having the symptoms on the lower dose of iodine?

I don't think I'm low in potassium since I take a Big Pharma med for high blood pressure, that keeps the potassium in my body. When I got low BP, it was when I first started on meds for high BP and I had trouble getting to the right dosage. I don't know of any medicine that raises your BP, just that potassium does but I don't know if that means you're low in potassium since it could be something else lowering the BP, such as being low in aldosterone. (which will lower your BP) I did an at home test for aldo where you lay down for 10 min then take BP, then stand up and take your BP again. I take licorice root for that(which raises your BP).

I'm no expert but if you're getting dizzy when you stand up and have lower than normal BP, and if you have weak adrenals, it's a good bet that your aldosterone is low.For adrenal fatigue, I take everything in the iodine protocol, plus 1 to 2 cups licorice root tea everyday and HC cream 4 times per day at 6 a.m., 10 a.m., 2 pm and 6 p.m. I should also be taking gingseng. You can get DGL licorice root in tablets from Swanson's, that type of licorice root won't give you side effects and is pretty effective, I just started on that. I take 2 tablets whenever I think about it during the day. I also take niacin and riboflavin but that's to help the thyroid meds (NDT) be absorbed better.

My goal is to get completely off Big Pharma meds except for the NDT.On Sun, Jun 19, 2011 at 7:54 AM, <ldanaila@...> wrote:

I take less then 1 teaspoon of sea salt/day.

I usually take unrfined sea salt from the market and I felt well but there is no

description of how much sodium, potassium are in so I switched to fleur de sel

sea salt I got diziness. I don't know exactly if it was also the salt change...

I always had low BP. I don't take HC. I tried Rhodiola and I got awful

headaches.

When I took 6,25 mg I didn't have the diziness. I had diziness when I first

started Cytomel in November.

Hi

I take about 100mg/day of iodine. I mostly use Redmond's Real Salt as it's

cheaper. I also like the taste a bit better than Celtic (although that may be

because it's what I'm accustomed to). Celtic is less gritty, but it seems to

have a 'chlorine' sort of taste when dissolved in water.

I am also taking 50mcg of Cytomel, which may also be contributing to my improved

well-being.

Someone told me yesterday that I looke like I have more energy, than when she

last saw me.

Something's working...

Hi Jaye,

How are your T4?

From how many months or years you take 100 mg of iodine?

Just curious :)

Thank you,

Hi

I have been taking iodine since November 2010. I started at 12.5mg and worked

up to 100mg.

My lab results have been like this:

Jan 2011: (on about 20mg iodine)

TSH 5.67

FT4 14 pmol/L (9-23)

FT3 4.6 pmol/L (3.5-6.5)

May 2011 (on 37.5mcg T3 as well as 100mg iodine)

TSH 1.54

FT4 <6.0 pmol/L (7.2-21)

FT3 4.4 pmol/L (2.9-6.0)

I'm not sure if this will be helpful. The labs were run at two different labs

and I can see that the ranges are different. Also, I was not taking T3 for the

January labs.

Since the dizziness kicked in at a higher dose, I'd have to lean in the

direction of detoxing. You might try testing adrenals also, sorry couldn't

remember if you had already done this or not, if adrenals are low, you might

need some support while detoxing.
