Guest guest
Hi all, my name is , I am a 48 year old woman and have had symptoms of tiredness, depression and weight gain for over 25 years. I have just come back from the doctors where although she admits that my problems all show the classic thyroid deficiency symptoms, she won't do a T3 or T4 test because my THS (I think its called that) test has come back withing normal range. My last doctor, before I moved house, was a brilliant doctor, he just couldn't pin down my symptoms, so did a Testosterone test which is very unusual test for females. The test came back as low but within so called' normal' range. He sent me to the local hospital tests and the specialist put me on Testosterone patches which worked brilliantly. But my new doctors threw their hands up at the cost and the fact that they aren't licienced and refused to prescribe them for me. I started to wean myself off them and dropped into a deep depression and phoned the specialist in desperation who made an appointment for me to have a testosterone implant. In the meantime my doctor tried to treat me as a normal depression patient and gave me anti-depressants, which caused chronic muscle cramps when they flushed all the salt out of my system. I stopped using the anti-depressants after only a week. She got really pissed off when I had the implant and my symptoms dissapeared within 2 weeks. Yet even with the proof that my personal testosterone needs are higher than normal and therefore maybe my other levels need to be higher than 'normal' for good health, she (or any of the docs at the paractice) will not do any further tests. I am now self medicating with an iodine supplement and waiting to see if there is any improvement. The doctors reaction to the iodine supplement was to basically fob it off with the idea that even a placebo effect is better than none. What the hell are doctors trained for these days, where do they expect nessesary vitamins and minerals to come from, fresh air instead of food? Rant and into over with. Glad to be here.
