Guest guest
FYI - The papers clearly and logically illuminate the flaws in the thinking that a suppressed TSH means that a patient is suffering from excess thyroid hormone and that thyroid medication dosage should be reduced. The authors present compelling arguments that for some thyroid patients, particularly but not exclusively those patients that have been on calorie restrictive diets, the thyroid system has adapted such that a lower TSH now correlates with healthy thyroid hormone levels. The authors argue that FT4, FT3 results and the symptomatic response of patients should be of primary focus during thyroid hormone treatment rather than the TSH, even if the TSH is totally suppressed. > > This is a paper published within Lowe's Thyroid Science research journal.
