This article has been referred to several times on this forum ... what is your

question specifically?

One thing that can be said is that the iodine protocol discussed on this forum

appears to be based on the Optimox research and Dr. Brownstein's work. Iodoral

or Lugol's are the substances used in the iodine protocol (in addition to the

required companion supplements). Doesn't mean that SSKI doesn't have a valuable

function ... it is just not used in the protocol primarily discussed here and

thus the experience may differ if one uses SSKI instead of Iodoral or Lugol's.

I have read posts in which comments that Dr. Brownstein did not get

results he was looking for with varying doses of SSKI and has instead chosen to

use Iodoral ... so perhaps it depends on what the intent is as to which product

one would most like to use.

so I would appreciate any opinions if anyone has time to read this article.

Dr. uses SSKI for a lot of things but he does still suffer a tad from

some of the old iodine beliefs.

Sorry for the repetition.

I guess I don't have a specific question, I just wanted to make sure no one was gonna tell me not to go there ,or the doc is a quack or any of those things before I drive for 7 hrs.

This clinic has a good reputation in alternative circles, but his use of iodine is limited. He uses smaller doses, & only SSKI. He is definitely not using the Brownstein protocol. This clinic was raided once by the FDA -- guns out & waving. They did a real cowboy number, intimidating staff & patients, stole patient records, took expired moldy supplements out of the trash & claimed they were being used on patients. (This was many years ago now.) I guess the fact that the clinic is still up & running shows that it didn't come to anything.AnneOn Jun 7, 2011, at 9:37 PM, Girl wrote:

Some people might say he is a quack and others recognize him as a pioneer in

holistic or integrative medicine. He and or his clinic work with several of

the major medical establishments in Western Washington. One of the ND's at the

clinic is also a professor at Bastyr University ~ an extremely well reputed

naturopathic school.

Keep in mind that you may not be able to schedule with and that his

colleagues in office may not have the same approach that he does. Ask as much

as you can of the office staff before you make the drive. Be really clear about

what you are looking for so you have a way to determine if you are a good fit

for the doctor that you schedule with.

Laurel's recent experience with Dr. Flechas shows that even when you go to who

you have every reason to believe to be an expert ~ you can wind up disappointed!

In the recent Newsmax promo letter from Dr. Brownstein he credits Dr. for his journey into holistic medicine:"In my frustration, I began to search for new ways to help my patients, including Ellis.A chiropractor I happened to meet did me a great favor I can never repay. He introduced me to a book by famed natural healer , M.D. — Healing With Nutrition.Inspired by Dr. 's success in using natural therapies to treat and prevent illness, I focused on the chapter in this book that discussed heart disease (because of Ellis, of course). And eventually, I discovered new, natural therapies that weren't taught in medical school. I began to devour more and more research on the true causes of heart disease (and many other conditions)."After listening to some of the radio shows by Dr. that are archived on the Tahoma clinic website it does not sound like he uses iodine in the large doses that Dr. Brownstein and other recently mentioned Dr.'s do, but that doesn't mean that he or his colleagues are not effective practitioners of holistic or integrative medicine. The archived radio shows do give excellent detail about the difference of iodide & iodine and many uses for both (as SSKI, Iodoral & Lugol's). If interested use this link: http://www.tahomaclinic.com/ and select the tab titled Green Medicine Radio Show. They have them conveniently sorted by topic and the segments are about 10 minutes long. > > >> > > > > > This DR/clinic is about a 7 hour drive from me, I'm thinking of making the trip.
