Has anyone experimented extensively with iodine for skin issues? I read some old

posts about moles, skin tags, wrinkles, etc, but nothing definitive.

I heard about iodine for moles a while back and tested topical application on a

few for 3 weeks with no noticeable results. Later, someone mentioned that the

moles need to be scratched so I tried again with success on the removal part but

now I have little pink spots that look to be scars. I've heard that iodine is

good for scars so I'll apply regularly and see what happens, just hoping to find

opinions from others who have experimented too.

If anyone's interested I documented my experience at:

Did just the surface of the mole come off or the root too? They can be very deep. I had a mole that was irritated by my bra strap and the irritation caused it to become pre-cancerous. Did not know about iodine then but I would think twice before I purposely scratched at another mole.

I used 2.2% lugol's and applied 3-4x/day. The entire protocol I used is

explained on the site with plenty of before and after pictures. I also used a

pin to break up the scabs so the iodine would penetrate. Not sure if that was

necessary or not.

I had extreme itching, skin that broke down very easily, and I ended up with foliculitis (infected skin follicles). After six or seven weeks on lugol's the itching and break down is almost gone. I still have a couple of itchy spots. My skin is also less thick between the lugol's and he Naturethroid I'm using instead of the synthetic garbage so it heals more quickly. I have been using it on the spots and internally. I'm much happier and much more comfortable. The itching was making me think of suicide it was so bad. I am so looking forward to more positives! Hi ,

I'm glad to hear it's working for you. Did you apply the lugol's straight on the

skin or mix it with an oil? I read a post from someone here that mentioned

success with castor oil. I tried it briefly on my face mixed with a little emu

oil but wasn't sure about the potential consequences so didn't stick with it

long.

I usually apply it straight to my sores and then mix a bit with eucerin cream which seems to really help my skin stay hydrated. I do this right after a bath or shower and it helps keep the moisture in. I've also been using a cool mist humidifier which helps moisturize too.On Jun 8, 2011, at 10:32 PM, "Dave" <dhail@...> wrote:

Yes, I've had good results with several skin,...things.The skin tags it seemed

to work fairly quick on, shrinking and disappearing them. But, you have to keep

at it for awhile, or they come right back. And moles,(well, I call them moles,

but not sure technically) I put it on for awhile, and then cut it off, and put

more on for several weeks. They didn't come back.Had several on my face, and

around collarbone area.Had a friend that had one on his cheek, it shrunk and

disappeared.Main thing I get now is its not quick. It takes weeks, for moles

etc.Skintags shrink quick, but also takes tme to get rid of them permanently.Jim

Jim - For skin tags are you applying the iodine topically or just taking

Iodoral? I've got several I want to get rid of. I've heard previously that

skin tags are associated with insulin resistance and other blood sugar issues,

but then recently heard that iodine deficiency can play a role. What is your

opinion?

Thanks,

Laurel

My mother told me that in her day they mixed iodine with baby oil for use as a sun tanning lotion.

Yep! I remember that myself---I didn’t do it because I was just soooo white and couldn’t take the sun—but my friends did it---Somehow it “colored” the skin a bit to some kind of tan look and they all did it---don’t know if it had any other effect, but I sure do remember it! Essentially I think it is a matter of chemically burning off the moles. Both my

adult daughter and I had some identical skin growths which we were not sure what

they were. She went to a dermatologist who thought hers were deposits of excess

collagen which he removed and biopsied. I avoid doctors so I just mixed up a

paste of mineral oil and baking soda (sodium bicarb) and applied it a few times

a day over a week or two (kept it under a bandaid), applying hydrogen peroxide

between applications. Mine scabbed up and fell off. Our scars look similar.

Essentially I chemically burned mine off, which I think is what the iodine did

to your moles.

Here is a link to someone's experience using baking soda to remove skin cancer:

http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/baking_soda5.html

I think salicylic acid (primary ingredient in commercial wart remover) would do

the same thing if applied like your applied iodine or I applied sodium bicarb.

When I was pregnant, I got a lot of new skin tags, & the nurse practitioner told me it was from the hormones. Everybody has a theory.AnneOn Jun 9, 2011, at 8:04 AM, pythonesk wrote:

I didn't know that about baking soda, thanks. Someone also recently posted about

C herb being a good choice.

I'm thinking about doing another mole removal experiment but this time on one

entire area and without the scratching. Should I try painting the lugol's

directly onto the skin or maybe mix it with castor oil? Anyone with skin

experience have thoughts?

I may also give it a go on my face to see if I can duplicate some of the claims

I've read here.

The oils are used to avoid drying out the skin, if you are using it only on a small spot I would just use it by itself.
