Guest guest
Hello group, I have taken 12.5 mg Iodoral since January. It has not really helped, have not noticed a difference. I'm also taking 4 1/2 grains Nature-Throid, and nearly 200mg of Iron a day to raise ferritin. Three days ago I increased my dose to 50mg, or I thought I did. When I ran out of Iodoral I had bought Source Naturals because it's cheaper. I did not realize that the tablets are 32.5 mg each, I assumed they were 12.5 like the Iodoral. Anyhow, I've been taking 4 of these tablets a day for the past 3 days or so. Today I actually feel somewhat human and am actually having a half way productive day. I think it's from the Iodine. I need to know if it's ok for me to take this much, and for how long. I can't afford to get a loading test done. A little history: undiagnosed hypothyroidism for over 25 years. My 3rd child was born with physical features of hypothyroidism and they missed it. He passed the newborn screening but had features such as protruding tongue, large head size, low body temperature, low motor tone, hoarse cry, slept all the time, rarely cried, and so on. Our concerns were always dismissed. He's now mild to moderate mentally impaired (iq 60), mild autism and severe speech apraxia. I came across on the internet that babies with physical features are usually due to severe deficiency in the mother. My son is now on 2 1/2 grains and has more energy. The other thing that seems to point towards deficiency is that I am very sensitive goitrogenic foods... green tea, wine, monounsaturates, etc. Seems like I'm more bothered than most. I had read that this indicates iodine deficiency as well. Three of my kids have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, since demanding the proper tests. What is a safe amount to give my kids? They are currently taking 1 source naturals, which is 32.5mg. We have noticed no change. They took 12.5 Iodoral since January and recently started the source naturals. Thank you everyone.
