I'm no expert but when I had my antibodies done the GP wrote 'thyroid antibodies

please' in the blank box at the bottom of the form where it says 'further

tests'.....

you could ask the nurse/phlebotomist for their interpretation but to be safe it

may be better trying to get back in touch with the Dr. There maybe some unspoken

code between that practice and the lab....but it does seem a bit odd. You'd want

anti-TPO antibodies measured really, as well as anti-Tg. Have you had these done

before? Are you already diagnosed or still trying to get a diagnosis?

Thanks for your reply. I'm still trying to get a diagnosis, although I'm not 100% sure it's a thyroid problem...I don't know... I've had the anti-TPO antibodies already done and that came back negative (I don't have any numbers or anything - was just told 'negative') but my GP said he would test me for antibodies again, however nowhere on the form does it say ANTI ! Just thyroglobulin. It's a print out from his computer so it's literally whatever check boxes he ticked. A thyroglobulin test is totally different, right? Literally testing the amount of thyroglobulin? I'm not really too sure on all this stuff. It does sound as though they will be measuring thyroglobulin then. How

frustrating for you. If you can i'd try to get a phone consultation with your Dr

and double check else you may have a wasted test and only need another. Good

luck with sorting everything out and getting a diagnosis. Everyone on here is

very helpful and friendly and have encouraged me to keep on with trying to get a

diagnosis, which I now have. What are your symptoms and how long has it been

going on for?

You need TPO and TgAb testing. If this was me, I would write in

TPO alongside the one he has asked for and explain why you have done this to

the lab technician or the nurse taking your blood.

I've just been to see my GP and he has said he'll test me for thyroid

antibodies. Brill. Although the blood test form he's given me just says:

" Thyroglobulin (THY) "

Does anyone know if he is actually testing me for antibodies or just my

thyroglobulin level??? I would assume the form would say something like

ANTI-thyroglobulin...? Thanks!

doctor's computer. I saw an Endo who only wanted to test my TPOAb and ignored

my request for TgAb - is this a sign that he doesn't know what he's talking

about or is this normal?

When you have your blood drawn try to get it done at your local

hospital and ask them to draw that bit more and add TgAb into the results.
