Yes, it's much cheaper to mix your own. You can buy potassium iodide (SSKI) in crystals at a reputable aquarium shop - the quality is the same. The iodine you'll need is a bit trickier, try the Chemical Store online.

As you head into this territory remember that all chemicals ( & substances used

in supplements) come in various grades (levels of purity).

One would want to make sure they are using at least USP food grade products and

not lab grade.

Low prices, fast shipping and really nice to work with does not equal a

guarantee of a USP food grade product, though there are many on this list who

use the product.

Hey, allot of people say this guy is good.

I need to make lugos? What are the measurements for the mix. I think im confused

on SSKI and all the different types of iodine. He also sells the premixed lugols

in a dropper, 7% 1 fl ounce bottles. Do you know how many drops of this I would

need in a day to make up 100 mg and 200 mg?

Good advice, others are using this guy off Ebay so I assumed it was all food

grade. Do you know if this is something I need to be concerned about with his

premixed lugols solution? I emailed the guy off ebay 2 days ago with no

response. Where do you get your food grade version from? I thought one just had

to buy one of the crystal mixes, but now Im finding one has to buy the potassium

iodide crystals and the iodine elemental crystals and make a mix (I think I have

this right). No clue on how to mix, what amounts of each to combine to make a

proper lugols mix, how much water to use (do I even use water and the mixing

base). Any info you can give is appreciated.

Im confused on SKKI, is that potassium iodine or elemental iodine or both? Do

you just add water to it and bam, you have lugols or do you have to add other

crystals to it (I am assuming SKKI is in crystal form but I have no idea). If

one has to add water to make the mix, how much water how much SKKI? Does anyone

have a good online place they can offer for Canadians?

Ben, my husband always does the mixing so I dont know the recipe. I'll ask him when he's awake. SSKI is potassium iodide. Lugol's is made from SSKI and elemental iodine. SSKI ALWAYS comes in crystal form unless of course you buy SSKI with water added already.

Someone mentioned I should becareful and ensure that I am buying food grade crystals. Not sure if this guy is selling food grade or not and it does not clearly say. Yes, Ben, I've bought from this seller multiple times and his prices are

fair and quality high.

For 7% Lugol's, it would take about 6 drops to equal 50mg, 12 drops to

equal 100mg, 24 drops to equal 200 mg.

It's going to be cheaper to make it yourself, but if that is too

overwhelming, just buy 1 oz of the 7% and get going, then figure it out

how you want to continue. I was a lot more motivated to make my own once I

had tried the Lugol's and knew I wanted to continue.

You want Lugol's, not SSKI. SSKI is only one type of iodine, potassium

iodide. You need both that one and elemental iodine (the brown stuff). So

you want Lugol's.

If you want more information, I'll answer your questions. I like buying

from this ebay seller because I can get everything I need from him in the

quantities I need, including dropper bottles etc.

I have a recipe for Lugol's, but you have to have a decent digital scale to

make the recipe. However, if you asked that seller on ebay, I am positive

he would sell you the exact amounts needed to combine and make your own

Lugol's, and I'll help you figure out what those would be when the time

comes. Just let me know.

One last thing-- That seller sells the 4 oz bottle of 2% Lugol's and he

also sells the 1 oz bottle of the 7% Lugol's. The two bottles are

essentially equal in the number of doses contained within them, and the

price on the 7% works out to a bit less overall.

The general consensus on the web is that there are about 600 drops in 1

ounce. These are vertical drops where the dropper is held

vertically. There will be more or less, but that's a rough figure.

Ariel, your terminology here is incorrect.

Potassium iodide crystals are KI.

Potassium iodide crystals dissolved in water become:

Super Saturated Potassium Iodide or SSKI

I have a recipe that I'll send Ben if he wants one. But I think he should

start by buying a bottle of premade so that he can get started and be

learning more about the whole thing and not keep waiting to get started.

Hi ,Thank you so much for this response. Ive been searching for weeks and you pretty much answered everything I have been searching for. I too was thinking of starting on the lugol's premixed than moving to making it myself. I have iodoral I am working through but it is going to be damn pricey to keep up with. I am only on 50 mg right now but would like to move up. Price was a factor, I am using it to treat cancer.So

if my maths correct, if I am up to 200mg, 600 drops will last me 24 days. Perhaps I should get a few bottles to make sure they last me. Then if I like that after a couple months revisit making it myself. I emailed the ebay seller but he hasn't gotten back yet. I'm glad I've been able to help. Like the rest of the moderators, I have a

really busy life and sometimes it can take me awhile to get through the

listmail.

I think it's best to start off with the premixed so you can get

started. If you can spend the money to get a few bottles, that would be

great, but the thing is I believe he may only be able to send 1 bottle at a

time of the 7% due to regulations, which means paying for shipping several

times. Check into it though, I could be very wrong on that.

The ebay seller can take a few days to answer questions but he is very

quick about shipping orders. I'd just go ahead and order and get started,

and get the rest of it sorted out later.

But do you have all the companion nutrients also? You must be on all the

companions, it's even more important with the kind of health issues you are

facing. The companions ensure that the body has what it needs to utilize

the iodine. If you already have them, start taking them now. Especially

the salt, get going on the salt big time.

Hey, I ordered 3bottles. I am in Canada, So I hope there is no customs issues. I Iodoral no prob from IHERB. It got here with no issues. Hope the liquid has the same luck....I take 1 tbsp of celtic salt every day. Hope thats enough...I also take 200mg of Selenium400mg of Chelate Magnesium (as of late it has caused loose bowel movements)I cant take Vitamin C because Im on something to help with weight loss called Hydrazine Sulphate and it restricts Vitamin C. Thats the only one I dont take out of the protocol, some iodine experts told me that is ok. I may just detox slower. So far ive been on 50mg a day and had no detox symptoms or increased energy. When I get my lugols I will probably up it to 100mg at first then

Yes, several members on this forum buy from that seller and avidly endorse their

products ~ though no one has ascertained what grade of materials they are using.

The most that is said is they are inexpensive, ship fast, very helpful and they

are satisfied with the product.

I cannot speak to whether or not you should be concerned with that seller, the

decision to buy from a licensed business or an unknown individual is a personal

choice. Personally I am perplexed at the lack of concern for what grade of

materials are being used.

J. Crow's sells Lugol's as 2% or 5% pre-mixed and lists their products as being

USP grade or higher and would be at risk of false advertising if they could not

prove it. They are also more expensive than the ebay seller which isn't

surprising as most businesses have more costs given the regulations they adhere

to. One would have to price out USP grade or higher iodine crystals and USP

grade or higher potassium iodide (purchased in bulk of course), business

licensing, insurance, employee costs, adherence to FDA/DEA reporting, etc... in

order to determine just how much price gouging (if any) is taking place with J.

Crow's. In the meantime, it is a place to buy pre-mixed USP grade or higher

product if one would like that option.

That said, there are plenty of licensed companies in pharmaceutical or food

manufacturing that have quality control issues themselves! But if a person is

dealing with health issues sometimes they hope to know a little more about the

products they consume if it is at all possible.

The price per dosage of the J. Crow Lugol's is substantially less than the

Iodoral tablet. The ebay seller is of course dirt cheap in comparison to J.

Crow & Iodoral.

Someone has probably sent you instructions on how to mix your own by now so I

won't respond to that question. If not though, a search of this forum will

bring up results from & also from Israel.

If you have any luck determining the grade of product from the ebay seller

please share :-)

Ben,

I don't know how long it will take to Canada.

Let me ask you something though. Unless your need for weight loss is a

significant factor in your ca, it would be better to focus on healing

systemically now rather than weight loss. Vit C is super important to

healing, and doing anything right now while you are trying to heal from

cancer that requires you to restrict Vit C is not likely to be a good

nutritional investment. Even if you do need to lose weight as part of your

cancer treatment, it would be better to choose supplemental assistance that

did not restrict Vit C. If you don't need to lose weight as part of your

cancer treatment, I would like to suggest that right now is not the time to

be trying to focus on that issue, particularly if it means that you

restrict nutrients that you need to fight ca.

Vit C is an antioxidant and if you want to cure the cancer you have to

detox heavily and quickly. That's the whole point of getting to the high

doses. And that's not the only reason for needing Vit C. The body

desperately needs Vit C to fight the cancer. I really question this choice

given the full picture.

I don't know who the " experts " in iodine are that said given your full

circumstances it would be ok to forgo Vit C, but I'm not impressed with the

advice.

Oleander looks to be an excellent addition to your protocol.

I'm going to send you, offlist, a copy of an email I got from Dr Murphree,

an MD I trust, which introduced his weight loss protocol based on a

comprehensive supplementation program. Food for thought.

If I may interject here, Ben and other cancer patients take Hydrazine Sulfate to prevent weight loss (wasting away that can happen to cancer patients) It is not taken to lose weight, but to help prevent the cancer patient from losing too much weight. Best, Kathleen

Hey Vitoria,Sorry I must have mistyped. I wish weight loss was the issue, well it is. I am losing too much weight, the hydrazine sulfate reverses the body's cachexia cycle. Is supposed to help with weight gain. I am 30 years old 5'10 and now sit at about 128 pounds. Before I discovered the cancer I was sitting at about 170. In the last 7 months I have lost 40 pounds despite excessive effort to eat healthy fats, nuts, avacados, all things listed online as the healthy way to keep mass on. I decided to go on Hydeazine Sulfate about about a month ago or so. One is to work up to 3 pills a day. It is very restrictive in nature. No drugs, alcohol, vitamin c, vitamin B, and its a mao inhibitor so no aged foods (cheese, meats). The list of no's is actually way larger than that but

that give you an idea. I was hoping by reading all the online testimonials It would really help me. After a month I have noticed no change. I did go down to 120 pounds, then decided to eat like a mad man because I was scared, havent been that weight since I was 12. I look pretty skinny. Anyway I managed to get my weight up to 130 but I think that was from forcing myself to eat 5 times a day, big meals. As soon as I went back to 3 means with snacks I went down to 128. Im trying to eat lots again but I fear the HS did nothing. I cant seem to find many who have used it despite the many online testimonials. Maybe it needs 2 months to kick in. Who knows, but ya I was scared to go off it in case it was working on some level as the weight loss has been pretty scary. Every week I get on the scales im afraid to look, when I lose more weight its one more thing to worry about while fighting this terrible disease. Anyway Ill stop going on and on, but thought I

would clear the air.I am also takingLDN, Stuff for Candida, Iodine, Essiac Tea, DCA, was on cesium but had to stop because I may start electro medicine soon and you cant mix the two, baking soda, other herbs , vitamins, supplementsI am going to add Iscador, Oleander, Milk ThistleI hope something starts to work soon, Keeping up with all this protocols is like a job that doesnt pay.
