Sounds like you are missing some of the companion nutrients - unrefined sea salt, Vit C, selenium, any others I might be missing.

Floaters, although annoying at times, are fairly normal and many people (myself included) have them.  As long as her eyes were checked and no concern of retinal issues I think you just learn to live with them.  At least I haven't found a good answer yet.

IBS issues are complicated since they can be linked back to many different things.  Low Dose Naltrexone works amazingly well for many IBS issues, but usually combined with diet changes (no gluten, no soy, no dairy, no all of those if needed).  Candida might well be an issue and worth checking into a addressing.  DE (diatomseous earth) is also helpful for IBS issues, and Candida.  I would winder about some sort of leaky gut syndrome for her and if so she is likely not getting the most out of her food or supplements

Hand tremors ... is she consuming caffeine?  sugar?? Regular sodas, red bulls, or other sorts of drinks like that?  I recall what I used to drink at 16 and cringe - I think I used to drink 6 - 12 cans a Coke back then.  This was before the Red Bull sorts of drinks came around.

I would take gluten out of her diet. Wheat, rye and barley. Google celiac's disease. It can cause floaters, which I have, constipation, I've been the opposite all of my life but I also have crohn's, depression, mental fog, impulsive behaviors, etc.I was diagnosed with crohn's at 19. Celiac's was found 3 years ago. I'm 48 now. My life has been so much better since I took gluten out of my diet. I eat only whole foods, fresh or frozen fruit and vegis and meats, eggs and some dairy. Sometimes dairy can cause problems too. Also corn and corn by products can cause problems. I eat nothing in a can or box. No processed foods and no fast foods. The specific carbohydrate diet maybe something also you may want to look into. It'll be hard to change her eating habits at 16 but it is well worth it. I also

was able to quit all 9 prescriptions the doctors had me on, all of them.I hope this gives you some ideas to try. From: bluegrassmomto3 <deatonml@...>iodine Sent: Wed, June 1, 2011 7:40:37 AMSubject: hand tremors and eye floaters

A good diet to get on, if you want to follow one, is the Paleolithic Diet (aka Caveman Diet). Also, Liquid Bentonite is good for IBS as well.Once she gets her diet/hormones under control, she may want to look into neurofeedback.

I would check the thyroid and adrenals if this was my daughter. Puberty puts a huge strain on the hormone system and if she was low thyroid before it will really manifest during this time.

agree with ladybugs. hand tremors/floaters are both symptoms of low thyroid. you

should visit the thyroid board for important info. good luck...

I have floaters and hand tremors as well. I was told it was thyroid/adrenals.  When I forget to take my thyroid medication, the tremors return. MikeOn Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 5:58 PM, Louise Larabie <louise46@...> wrote:

I am age 67 and had over the last decade developed progressively worsening hand

tremors. When I walked, sometimes one of my toes also would drag a little

almost making me trip. I just thought this was the effect of age.

About a year ago my wife and I started taking iodine and worked up to 50 mg a

day of iodoral. We were experimenting with iodine because we both lacked energy

and I was feeling the need for more and more sleep. We also wanted to see if

iodine would boost metabolism for us to improve these conditions, plus help us

to lose weight. I was also taking high doses of numerous supplements including

most traditional vitamins. I added selenium, l-tyrosine and dl-phenylalanine

because I had read somewhere that they were used along with iodine in making or

activating thyroid hormone. I was also painting lugol's on the palms of my

hands because I had some fibrous growths on the tendons to my index fingers that

caused them to curve in.

About four months into the iodine experiment I was showing my wife how I was

able to straighten my fingers so much better, and she commented that my hands

were not shaking very much any more either; I had not even been paying attention

to the shaking, but I was really surprised to notice how it had improved, and I

also noticed the occasional dragging of my toe had disappeared. Over the months

since my shaking hands have improved even more; I would say overall I have

improved about 80% to 90%.

From what I understand, the dl-phenylalanine breaks down into l-tyrosine. The

l-tyrosine can cross into the brain and in the presence of vitamin b6 can

convert to l-dopa. L-dopa is involved in neurological function as is iodine, so

I can't say which specifically caused my improvement, but I am fairly sure it

was the combination.

I would think that insufficient magnesium might be involved also.

I can't comment on the floaters.

THank you all for your help. This is a great group!

She actually rarely eats bread, etc because she just doesn't really care for it,

but I'm sure gluten is hidden in many things I am not aware of. We have been

working on our diet, but she definitely has an affinity toward sugar (not bad

compared to most, but I know she/we needs to work on that). She also hardly ever

has caffine of any sort. Funny someone mentioned (Mike, I think) the paleo diet

as I have been reading about that. I just got the primal blueprint book. I think

this may be a great way to eat...

My gut feeling is it is a thyroid/adrenal issue and according to everyone's

feedback it sounds like it is. I will definitley have this checked out.

Question: Do I need to take her off the iodine before I have her thyroid tested,

and if so, how long before hand. Also, what all type of tests should I ask the

doctor to administer?

Thanks again, you are all wonderful!

Lora (who is finally up to 50mg of iodine and feeling better...still have my own

health issues I'm working on though. A while back I wrote in about having heart

palps, these are pretty much gone now !!)
