> hi everyone,

> I am new to the group and only found out about it yesturday and my health

visitor suggested this might help me get some answers and understand more about

thyroid as i find it really confusing!!

> i had my son 5 months ago and since then had been losing weight so had my

thyroid checked as the weight loss was unexplained. the blood test showed

overactive. this was a month ago, since then i have had 2 more tests which show

i am underactive?? i am very confused as the only symptom i or the doctor feel i

have is weight loss and that is as the doctor said 'clinically overactive'.

> i then had a discuccion with the nurse about it and she briefly mentioned that

i may have grave's disease, i have done abit of research into this and it has

left me feeling scared now. i feel like i have more symptoms such as not

sleeping and feeling too warm in bed, although i am in two minds thinking it is

because i am worried about this and that could be why i am not sleeping!

> if anybody has any useful information or advise on where i should go from here

please reply.

Hi Amber, sorry to hear about your problems and i am sure that someone will be

along to help you soon, you must get your antibodies tested for, i am suprised

your doctor has'nt done these if he has said that you are overactive (in order

to find out why) ! You could be suffering from Hashimoto's instead of Graves so

it might be a good idea to go to the file section on the group page and look for

both of these conditions, your symptoms should help you to work out which one

you have by comparing them to the information available. Please try not to worry

too much, the help is on here it just takes a little time for your post to fall

into the right hands unfortunatly that is'nt mine as im a complete novice

myself, so hopefully our wonderful or one of the other lovely ladies

or gentlemen will be along very soon to offer their invaluable advise. Luv Sue X

Hi Amber:

Here is the link to the files section which you may wish to read. Just click on

each subject and the article should open for you:

shis%20%26%20Antibodies/

Amber do you have the results of your thyroid tests with the reference ranges?

By law you are allowed to have a copy of all your test results and you should

give your surgery a ring to have them either send you a copy or give you the

info over the phone. It will help to see these results. Are you taking any

supplements? Vitamin C, magnesium, selenium, Celtic Sea Salt, etc?

Cheers,

JOT
