Guest guest
You can get selenium in drops, basically tasteless. My daughter takes Lugol's and selenium drops along with the Crystal Energy drops she uses, all just in water and has never complained about the taste. You can use the drops in another type of liquid if you have to. Lugol's is not detectable in milk. Magnesium comes in powdered form that you can mix in liquid also. Vit C is easily found in chewable form, my kids like American Health brand chewables. I get them through Vitacost online. Guest guest
My daughter was 4 when we started her on Iodoral. I got a pill crusher from Walgreens and we crush her Iodoral in that. We use VRP.com selenium and it is in capsules so I empty them into applesauce. You do not do the "companion" nutrients for children like you do for adults. My children are on Selenium 2x / week, Vit C, Fish Oils, and a multi plus the Iodoral. Anything else you give them would be specific to their own needs. Buist, ND How can I give my 4 yr old the companion supplements? My 4 yr old is hypothyroid and I want to start her on iodine but I don't know how to give her the companion nutrients. Guest guest
Aside from liquid selenium, which we also use, there is a liquid magnesium which comes with other minerals. It's called Ion-mag. I have not used it (anyone?) but will be ordering it for my ds. Salt disappeares well into unsalted peanut butter or other nut butters, or into juices, particularly citrus. My son gets his on food though. For him, juice just didn't do it. Jaye > > > > My 4 yr old is hypothyroid and I want to start her on iodine but I don't know how to give her the companion nutrients. Guest guest
Magnesium can also be administered topically, with magnesium oil rubbed into the skin, or a bath with magnesium chloride & /or magnesium sulfate (epsom salts.)AnneOn May 18, 2011, at 11:24 AM, Linn wrote: You can get selenium in drops, basically tasteless. Guest guest
Wouldn't crushing the iodoral sort of defeat the purpose of using iodoral versus liquid lugols? Wouldn't liquid lugols' make more sense then? Just on a cost basis analysis? Iodoral is designed to not be absorbed until the intestines due to the coating on it. So if you crush it you eliminate that " benefit " wouldn't you? Or did she find the taste objectionable? Just curious and ever a money pincher when I can. Guest guest
I don't know. My kids are now 9 & 11 and we have been doing it since they were 4 & 7. They don't like the taste but they tolerate it.
