Guest guest
I'd have it pulled. But that is me. I've never taken oral antibiotics either.I would look into herbal remedies that fight infection. It seems that I have an abscess in the root of a molar that has a gold crown on it. My dentist want me to see another dentist that specializes in endodontics to have a root canal done on the tooth. He gave me a prescription for an antibiotic [Amoxillin 500mg] I guess to take once a day till gone. Anyway I don't like taking any drugs and neither does getting a root canal and having a dead tooth root in my mouth sound appealing to me. Guest guest
On my last thermography visit, she could see the health of my teeth which on the scans were fine -yeah. I have 2 old root canals and the one from 2005 gave me similar problem to what you describe just a few weeks back. Ironically went away using minocin which I take for RA anyways MWF, iodine which I upped to 150mg daily for couple of weeks and naproprexen over the counter for the inflammation. I did go in and got a xray and the root was unhappy but by then 4-5 days later since we were on beach on first day of our trip. Anyways at that point pain was gone so his advice was to leave well enough alone. I have been using xylitol, fine celtic salt or real salt and baking soda to brush with since 2005 and no new dental problems. I have so many old fillings that are purely ancient that he even got curious on what I used and my diet. This combination also healed up 5 small gum line cavities in first 6 months of use with no fillings needed. sure wish I had that going as a child. Xylitol reduced cavity bacteria and baking soda helps to bring the minerals into your teeth. The salt makes your gums happy. I use equal amount of each ingredient. I tried adding flavors but didn't care for that. Plain seems to work best for me. Thermography can also check body for melanoma or skin cancers besides checking on tooth health or root canal health. These are new since last visit so thought it would help if all of you knew this idea and to ask for it if you get a scan done. Takes a few minutes but she has found many tooth issues and cancers this way. She also mentioned that failed root canals and BC seem to be linked in patients she saw. Hope this helps someone. Guest guest
I was put on antibiotics, but the infection in the tooth went so far up into the bone that the antibiotics didn't help a bit -- & they messed up my bowel. I was told, in fact, that I would never get over the infection without antibiotics, so not getting any help from them was a pain. I had to fight the infection for a LONG time, & I am still not 100% sure I am rid of it.A root canal can only address infection in the largest cavity in the tooth -- not in the small tubules, & not infection that has escaped the tooth & moved into the jaw. I would never have a tooth root canalled unless there was serious therapy to go along with it -- ozone injected into the gums & jaw. (Some of the biologic dentists are now using laser therapy to kill pathogens in the tooth, but I am not too sure about that. Doesn't laser light move in straight lines?)My dead tooth caused me so much misery that I would be very reluctant to have a root canal. Unfortunately, replacements for a root canalled tooth tend to be really expensive.AnneOn May 23, 2011, at 4:12 PM, Nevada wrote: I just got home from the dentist. Guest guest
Micro-electricity. Off topic for iodine but very effective for mouth infections ... of all sorts ... quite a few people have prevented needing root canals ... or delayed it by a few years ... or having the tooth pulled if that is your choice. Guest guest
Don't know how far gone this tooth may be but my wife was pregnant when she got a toothache, and not wanting to go to the dentist, we tried coconut oil. There is a technique called " Oil Pulling " where you swish coconut oil around in your mouth for 20 mins each day first thing in the AM. Well, it helped her avoid the dentist. That was about 6 months ago or so and the baby is now a month old, and the tooth is still fine. She still has the problem of a loose filling, but it has been fine since the swishing started and we don't see any need to stop. We may never go to the dentist again! > > If it were me I would either pull it or find someone who does ozone oxygenation therapy. But yes you probably need to take the antibiotic no matter what. Guest guest
Pulling it is not something I want to do. It is on the right side and all the way to the back. I have one upper molar missing already on the same side but my right side is still my best chewing side as I also have a lower molar missing on the left side. Besides the crown was new a year ago. > > I'd have it pulled. But that is me. Guest guest
Again pulling it is not an option I wish to consider. I have read about ozone therapy and it does not sound like a good idea to me due to the dry mouth effect and possible damage to the saliva glands. > > If it were me I would either pull it or find someone who does ozone oxygenation therapy. Guest guest
I am familiar with oil-pulling and I have tried it in the past. It never seemed to do anything for me although it worked wonders for my wife. No harm in trying but somehow I have my doubts that it will permanently solve the problem. One of my concerns is that if the infection is not completely removed that it could spread to the jawbone, especially since there is a history of cancer of the jaw in my family. Yet I eat an anti-cancer diet so perhaps my concerns are needless. An endodontist, I understand, seals the bottom of the infected root after doing a root canal. But I don't know enough about this to make a decision. Am I better simply treating it with a natural method and continue eating a healthy nutritarian diet and not get the root canal or are my concerns about dead roots in my jaw well-founded? > > > > If it were me I would either pull it or find someone who does ozone oxygenation therapy. Guest guest
Thanks for you input. I really appreciate the suggestions of using xylitol, fine celtic salt or real salt and baking soda to brush with. I am 64 and it seems that in the last 2 years I have had more cavities than in previous years so maybe if I use xylitol, fine celtic salt or real salt and baking soda to brush with I will find the success you have. Guest guest
OK I was reading the reviews of the book you referred to at Amazon. It says that the author used to not only be an endodontist (a dentist specializing in root canals), but he helped found the American Association of Endodontists. Well, it seems that if that was his position and he changed his mind then there must be some really good reasons to avoid root canals and that is sufficient for me. Still I have read of modern procedures and how they have become more effective at sterilizing the roots etc. so I will keep an opened mind for now. > > I would rather lose the tooth than get a root canal. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who posted answers to my question: While I didn't get anything that really convinced me of what the best course of action is I got enough response that I am going to try to avoid a root canal as much as is possible but I am also NOT going to have the tooth extracted. I will try increasing my iodine intake along with some extra vitamin C and will keep searching for other possibilities. Guest guest
Nevada, If you have a current abscess you need to deal with that. Oil of Oregano - soaked in a cotton wad and then held on the area can be very effective with both the infection and the inflammation. Oil pulling in conjunction with other matters can help, but by itself I'm not sure it'll do the trick. Oil pulling was cold pressed sunflower oil as I recall the original protocol on that, but coconut oil has many great properties. But hands down microelectricity will get at the infection deeper than any of the topical stuff. A couple of treatments typically results in very fast improvement. Odd as it is or sounds it is remarkably effective. I also brush with baking soda, sea salt, and sometimes xylitol. I love it. I appreciate a cleaner feeling mouth. Little to no " morning mouth. " And a clean check-up last go round. Guest guest
Thanks Jaxi While I do have an abscess; it is not a bad one. Last week it was bothering me more than this week. I only went to the dentist because I am planning on an 18 day vacation beginning on June 11th and did not want problems during my vacation. Interestingly last year in October before I went on vacation it was bothering me much worse. I did takes meds that time due to the pain being much worse. the dentist merely filed the tooth down thinking that it was a problem with my bite. I saw him a month later and the tooth seemed to be fine. Now the evidence points to a definite abscess and it is in fact draining to one side of the tooth. But the pain is only mild. It seems odd to me that no one is suggesting the use of iodine on the iodine group!! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I just got home from the dentist. > > > > > > > > It seems that I have an abscess in the root of a molar that has a gold > > > > crown on it. Guest guest
when I had my amalgams removed a few years ago, my mercury-free dentist who also reverses root canals told me that when he cleans the bacteria out from the canals, he finds bacteria that has morphed into very dangerous stuff ( my scientific word =-). ) that he hasn't seen before, when they are looked at under a microscope. So , I , personally would rather lose my tooth and avoid any germs that my immune system is always trying to keep under control, and thereby making it harder for my body to work on other parts of my body. Also, many alternative doctors in many countries when presented with a cancer patient, one of the first things they do is have the patient remove any dead teeth as they have found that there is a definite relationship between cancer and root canals/dead teeth in the mouth. Its all very interesting. Kathleen Absess tooth - suggestions please> > > I just got home from the dentist.> > It seems that I have an abscess in the root of a molar that has a gold crown on it. I would love to have a dentist that I can trustFrom: Kathleen Blake <kathleenblake@...>Subject: Re: Re: Absess tooth - suggestions pleaseiodine Date: Tuesday, May 24, 2011, 12:25 PM when I had my amalgams removed a few years ago, my mercury-free dentist who also reverses root canals told me that when he cleans the bacteria out from the canals, he finds bacteria that has morphed into very dangerous stuff ( my scientific word =-). ) that he hasn't seen before, when they are looked at under a microscope. Guest guest
I have a molar missing on my bottom and top jaws. Trust me you'll find a way to chew. I was always one sided but you learn to conform. We are just telling you what we would do or did is all. Suggestions. I won't even get a filling because of the poisons in that filling substance. Thank God I have no cavities. Fillings are full of mercury and root canals contain poisons also which will defeat the purpose of you detoxing through iodine supplementation. Most people have all of their mercury fillings removed and replaced with a safer substance. You need to find a natural dentist and that is costly is all.I'd go toothless before I would let them put poisons in my body, plain and simple. And most dentists will tell you the mercury fillings are safe. That is a bunch of hog wash. You need to do some research is all and do what is best for you. It is on the right side and all the way to the back. I have one upper molar missing already on the same side but my right side is still my best chewing side as I also have a lower molar missing on the left side. Besides the crown was new a year ago. > > I'd have it pulled. But that is me. Guest guest
He is in Northern Az, however, there are many mercury free dentists around the country. I would google and I imagine you will find some in your state.
