Guest guest
Your Endo actually said no to iodine, " Cause it might come from Japan, with all the radiation? " I would say your endo is an Idiot, but that would be an Oxymoron.I believe if you go to the left side of the screen, and click on 'Files' you will find the 'New Member Doc.' If you don't currently get any Rx. that you feel you need, from your Endo, I would do him the ; " Your fired! " He is not just an idiot, he's a dangerous idiot. I wouldn't even bother with the ultrasounds; unecesary.Again, its just telling you what you already know; its enlarged.Normal responce to being untreated hypothyroid; in all probability for many years.During which time your Dr.'s missed diagnosing it.Jim > > Hi Jim, > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
Anne How long did it take for your thyroid to shrink? I think mine is enlarged, and actually MANY years ago I was told it was " prominent " by my doc. Of course tests were normal. I notice a lot of people, including my kids, who seem to be 'flabby' around the base of the neck. My first thought is thyroid inflammation. Could this be so, or could it just be fat? LOL. I'm going post about my eldest dd. Jaye > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
Good action plan, . As for finding a 'new' Endhole, don't waste your time; same old wine, in a brand new bottle.I'm afraid there is no such thing as a " Good' Endo. What do call 1000 Endo's at the bottom of the ocean? Answer; A GOOD start! Jim > > > > Hi Jim, > > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
Hello. Thought I'd take a moment and chime in. I don't always post but I do read from time to time. I have hypothyoridism and a goiter as well. My goiter has some nodules in it too. I've been to 5 doctors this year and all of them have been idiots. First off my thyroid has a goiter because my thyroid has been treated horribly. I was on .25mcg of Synthroid for 4yrs . Mind you I'm a full grown woman. So at first the Synthroid worked and it helped but it definitely wasn't enough for me though, or my thyroid. Finally this year I noticed my neck swollen a little. And was experiencing all sorts of strange symptoms. high blood pressure, heart palplatations, and muscle weakness. So my pc doc ordered a sono of my thyroid beacuse I wondered if it had anything to do with the symptoms that were going on. In the meantime I went and saw my midwife to see if she would run the right tests for me. Thinking that she would listen to me more than my pc. Wrong. She did do some hormonal tests on me but they said they all came out good. Did my t4 and it was off some but didn't really concern neither my pc doc or midwife. So my PC sent me to the ENT who was super nice by the way. Looked at my sono , said yes there was some nodules but he saw nothing scary looking that was telling him to take my thyroid out. He said he would but was doing a really good job talking me out of having it done. The symptoms I was having he said weren't from the nodules. He said he has seen lots of thyroid patients and no one came in complaining of the symptoms I had been having at the time. So I thought off to the endo I should go because , after all they 'specialize' in endocrinology. Thinking maybe something was a miss with more then just my thyroid. Let me tell you that appoitnment was the worst appointment I've ever had with a doctor. She about had me dead and dying in her office and she barely knew me. Claimed she couldn't understand the sono report. Said it read like Russian to her. Hmm, my ENT doc understood it just fine. Wanted me to have a biospy done. The ENT wasn't even going to bother because he felt there were way to many false positives and negatives with it. Plus I wasn't even going to go there because I am NOT going to let someone poke my neck. Very sensitive spot on me. Poke me where you want everywhere else, but don't touch my neck. Insisted that it was just a little poke and wanted it done. I asked questions of her and she clearly became very irriated asking me what " I wanted to do " . So I told her. I wanted my T3 tested, I wanted my adrenals tested and my iron. Wanted to figure out what was causing the goiter in the first place because it really shouldn't be there. I wanted to start on Natural Thyroid. Then she proceded to tell me my thyroid needed to come out and it was better than dying. All the while my 4yr old and husband are sitting right there in the office with me. She totally ignored me and wrote a script for blood work. I wanted to high tail it right out of there , and made an excuse to the receptionist that I didn't have a calendar and didn't want to reschedule until I got home. Yeah, no way!! Got out of the office and just sat in the car and cried. At first my husband thought I was being unreasonable and he definitely didn't want me to die. I didn't either but I wasn't going to let this doctor touch me. I didn't like her at all. She had a terrible bedside manner and I knew she knew that what she was saying was bull. As I sat in her office and noticed her bottle of D3 sitting on her table. She wasn't going to share that with me. Not at all. She just wanted to rip my thyroid out. Maybe she had to pay her mortgage or car bill? But I wasn't going to do that either. The thyroid is a very important organ and once its out you are dependent on medication for the rest of your natural born life. On top of it all she wanted to put me back on Synthroid after taking my thyroid out. Yeah, the medicine that hasn't done a thing for me. It would kill me if that happened, and I'm not being dramatic. I mean if I'm not doing well on Synthroid with a thyroid what in the world is she thinking that I would do well on Synthroid without a thyroid? I wish I had had happy ending to end my story. But listen to these people here. Endos are idiots when it comes to thyroid disease. Don't bother looking for a new endo. Find a good doctor , usually they are Naturopathic docs that are well versed on thyroid conditions. Read all you can. That's what I'm doing even though right now I still don't feel well and would just like this living nightmare to end. All I know right now is praying and hoping for a true miracle so that I can feel better and go on being the best mom I can be to my four children. > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
, If you go to stopthethyroidmadness.com, you can find out where you can order the tests your self and which ones are the best to order. Also there is a natural thyroid hormone group that is very good. Dianne > > > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
, Thank you for chiming in.Your story does have a 'Happy ending'; you got the H*ll out of the Endo's office, and didn't let them poke your Thyroid, or take it out. Unfortunately, your story is the rule, not the exception.Except some people don't have enough confidence, or are scared by the fear tactics, and end up submitting to paying the Endo's mortgage! So, you did good; pat yourself on the back for being strong! Your story has the same Moral as many, far too many others; Sythroid =synthcrap. Endo's = Endholes! The real irony; some diseases they are still looking for a cure, or even a treatment. Not Hypothyroidism. The curse of hypothyroidism is NOT the disease, or the symptoms. Not the lack of appropriate testing and treatment regimens. The curse of hypothyroidism is a medical profession that is ignorant about HOW to diagnose, and HOW to treat. The 'curse' IS the medical profession, itself!Jim > > > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
I've often visualised a similar situation, with the genders reversed.A MALE patient is told " Well, your having 'some problems' down there. We'll just schedule you for a 'simple' surgery. Nothing to worry about, you are middle aged, after all. This is very common. Will just remove your testicles, problem solved! Hysterectomies, Gall bladder removals, Thyroidectomies. In my mind unecessary surgeries.Jim > > > > > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > > > I have to agree with you on what you said.
