Can Iodine eventually replace Thyroid meds?

I'm on Amour, and am being treated for adrenal fatigue. My dr. recently

suggested Iodine.

I'm curious if Iodine can replace thyroid meds completely. I have one thyroid

gland. Other gland removed after it grew into a 5cc goiter.
