Guest guest
I'm with Jim on this one. Does the moron think they are filtering radioactive iodine out of the air to bottle in Lugol's solution? (I wish they COULD filter radioactive iodine out of the air!) That is so far beyond stupid that words fail. You need iodine to PROTECT you from the radioactive iodine... Run like a thief!I also have to agree with Jim that my thyroid was enlarged for most of my life, & nobody even commented on it. I didn't realize it myself until it started shrinking after I was well along on the iodine protocol. I think enlarged thyroids are such a commonplace that they frequently go unnoticed.AnneOn May 10, 2011, at 9:23 PM, dutchdivco wrote: Your Endo actually said no to iodine, "Cause it might come from Japan, with all the radiation?" Guest guest
I can't remember how many years I had doctors lunge at my throat and then ask my mom if I had ever had my thyroid checked! I'm betting at the latest it started when I was nine since that is when instating gaining weight and having chronic constipation. But despite all the notice they all ruled my thyroid to be fine. Too bad not a single one of them trusted what they saw and could feel. Technology ruled. Even back in the early 70's .Sent from my iPhoneOn May 10, 2011, at 10:42 PM, Anne Seals <anneseals@...> wrote: I'm with Jim on this one. Guest guest
Jim, yes my Endo did say that. I am looking into finding a new Endo, I heard that there aren't that many good ones around from friends and my ND.Yes, I believe you're are right about prob having this goiter for a while. I was diagnosed by a female Internist during my first appointment with her last year . She also has an enlarged thyroid and goes yearly for U/Ls. I decided to put everything on hold for now and continue with my thyroid and my accupucture sessions. Hopefully by then this problem will disappear. Guest guest
, sorry that you are going through all of this. My bloodwork is ok even though my Endo thinks that won't last as his comment was "your bloodwork is ok for now". Sounds like he is looking for the worst scenario. It's kind of hard to talk to him to as he is looking into the computer at the same time he is talking to me, reading the results, at the last minute, from the ultrasound. I have no idea why he keeps telling me my thyroid should be removed even if it is non-cancerous. He doesn't answer me when I told him twice that I don't want my thyroid removed. I don't have any other problems either and he knows this. I have been doing some research on this topic. There is some good information on mayoclinic. I also go to a ND/l.ac weekly so I am hoping that will help along with other things I am putting into practice. Good luck to you. From: <reedfamilypa@...>iodine Sent: Thu, May 12, 2011 9:21:20 PMSubject: Re: Thyroid cancer maybe Hello. Thought I'd take a moment and chime in. I don't always post but I do read from time to time. I have hypothyoridism and a goiter as well. My goiter has some nodules in it too. I've been to 5 doctors this year and all of them have been idiots. First off my thyroid has a goiter because my thyroid has been treated horribly. I was on .25mcg of Synthroid for 4yrs . Mind you I'm a full grown woman. So at first the Synthroid worked and it helped but it definitely wasn't enough for me though, or my thyroid. Finally this year I noticed my neck swollen a little. And was experiencing all sorts of strange symptoms. high blood pressure, heart palplatations, and muscle weakness. So my pc doc ordered a sono of my thyroid beacuse I wondered if it had anything to do with the symptoms that were going on. In the meantime I went and saw my midwife to see if she would run the right tests for me. Thinking that she would listen to me more than my pc. Wrong. She did do some hormonal tests on me but they said they all came out good. Did my t4 and it was off some but didn't really concern neither my pc doc or midwife. So my PC sent me to the ENT who was super nice by the way. Looked at my sono , said yes there was some nodules but he saw nothing scary looking that was telling him to take my thyroid out. He said he would but was doing a really good job talking me out of having it done. The symptoms I was having he said weren't from the nodules. He said he has seen lots of thyroid patients and no one came in complaining of the symptoms I had been having at the time. So I thought off to the endo I should go because , after all they 'specialize' in endocrinology. Thinking maybe something was a miss with more then just my thyroid. Let me tell you that appoitnment was the worst appointment I've ever had with a doctor. She about had me dead and dying in her office and she barely knew me. Claimed she couldn't understand the sono report. Said it read like Russian to her. Hmm, my ENT doc understood it just fine. Wanted me to have a biospy done. The ENT wasn't even going to bother because he felt there were way to many false positives and negatives with it. Plus I wasn't even going to go there because I am NOT going to let someone poke my neck. Very sensitive spot on me. Poke me where you want everywhere else, but don't touch my neck. Insisted that it was just a little poke and wanted it done. I asked questions of her and she clearly became very irriated asking me what " I wanted to do". So I told her. I wanted my T3 tested, I wanted my adrenals tested and my iron. Wanted to figure out what was causing the goiter in the first place because it really shouldn't be there. I wanted to start on Natural Thyroid. Then she proceded to tell me my thyroid needed to come out and it was better than dying. All the while my 4yr old and husband are sitting right there in the office with me. She totally ignored me and wrote a script for blood work. I wanted to high tail it right out of there , and made an excuse to the receptionist that I didn't have a calendar and didn't want to reschedule until I got home. Yeah, no way!! Got out of the office and just sat in the car and cried. At first my husband thought I was being unreasonable and he definitely didn't want me to die. I didn't either but I wasn't going to let this doctor touch me. I didn't like her at all. She had a terrible bedside manner and I knew she knew that what she was saying was bull. As I sat in her office and noticed her bottle of D3 sitting on her table. She wasn't going to share that with me. Not at all. She just wanted to rip my thyroid out. Maybe she had to pay her mortgage or car bill? But I wasn't going to do that either. The thyroid is a very important organ and once its out you are dependent on medication for the rest of your natural born life. On top of it all she wanted to put me back on Synthroid after taking my thyroid out. Yeah, the medicine that hasn't done a thing for me. It would kill me if that happened, and I'm not being dramatic. I mean if I'm not doing well on Synthroid with a thyroid what in the world is she thinking that I would do well on Synthroid without a thyroid? I wish I had had happy ending to end my story. But listen to these people here. Endos are idiots when it comes to thyroid disease. Don't bother looking for a new endo. Find a good doctor , usually they are Naturopathic docs that are well versed on thyroid conditions. Read all you can. That's what I'm doing even though right now I still don't feel well and would just like this living nightmare to end. All I know right now is praying and hoping for a true miracle so that I can feel better and go on being the best mom I can be to my four children. > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > I have to agree with you on what you said. Guest guest
, Jim has a good point. I had a gynecologist that wanted to do a hysterectomy a few years ago because I was having some other surgery to correct problems from childbirth and he said my uterus was enlarged. He was always vague about what exactly that implied and I finally made my decision not to have the hysterectomy when he told me that if I was his wife, he would not only recommend the hysterectomy, but an oophorectomy as well because of the possibility of one day getting ovarian cancer. We were sitting in his office with the picture of his six college age children on the wall. Two years later, moved to a new state, new gyno, and he was ready to report him to the medical board. He said there was nothing wrong with my uterus. I still have it (and my ovaries!). If he had been a local doctor I am sure he would have reported him.KathyFrom: dutchdivco <jdutchmanjim@...>iodine Sent: Sat, May 14, 2011 12:47:25 AMSubject: Re: Thyroid cancer maybe " I have no idea why he keeps telling me my thyroid should be removed even if it is non-cancerous." No wonder he keeps looking at the computer; its so he won't have to look you in the eye.Kind of like not naming the Lobster, your about to eat.Jim > > > > > > > > Hi Jim, > > > > I have to agree with you on what you said.
