Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I now have the results of my recent blood test for B12 and folates and Ferritin. Previous results from May 2010 below as comparison. Going on the 2010 results I stopped taking B12 1000ug and took Ferrous sulphate 200mg daily. May 2010 B12 - 924 (145-914), Folate >20 (3.0-14.4), Ferritin 41 (15-233) June 2011 B12 - 702 (145-914) Folate - 9.5 (3.0-14.4) Ferritin 161 (15-233) I am 46 years old and still menstruating. I have now resumed the B12 1000ug daily but I am not sure what to do about the Ferrous sulphate as I believe ferritin is best between 70 and 90. Previously when I stopped all iron supplementation my Ferritin plummeted from 86 to 36 so I was surprised at this result. I take T3 only currently on 50 mcg daily. thanks Lizzie
Guest guest
Hi L: Actually for women who are still menstruating, you're ferritin levels should be at 130. You will start to feel good at 70-90 but 130 is what you should consider great. You may want to bring your iron intake down a little bit. How are you feeling? Guest guest
I agree with what you are doing Liz, but would stop the Ferrous Sulphate as this shows you have boosted your ferritin level well. Do you actually FEEL better? I am 46 years old and still menstruating.
