Guest guest
Hmm, will be looking to see if you get an answer here, was wondering the same. I concluded that Iodine being a necessary nutrient, must not affect the good bacteria like it does the bad. Still, we could all use some good fermented foods as well. Good question! > > When we take Lugols, does it get absorbed into the bloodstream before reaching the stomach? If not, should we be taking probiotics to replenish the good bacteria in the gut that get killed by the Lugols? > Thanks, Gerry >
Guest guest
Hi Gerry, I take probiotics daily because they are good for my body. However, Lugol's does not kill good bacteria. As a matter of fact, I take Iodoral which is the tablet form of Lugol's, that is coated so it does not dissolve in the stomach, but is dissolved in the small intestine. I also take a few drops of Lugol's solution daily to make sure I am getting the iodine down my digestive track, especially in my stomach. Iodine has been known to prevent stomach ulcers, actually. I don't know where you got information that Lugol's kills good bacteria, but it is false. Hope this answers your question adequately. Kathleen Effect of Lugols on good stomach microflora When we take Lugols, does it get absorbed into the bloodstream before reaching the stomach? If not, should we be taking probiotics to replenish the good bacteria in the gut that get killed by the Lugols? Thanks, Gerry
Guest guest
Dr. Abraham states that iodine kills the pathogens of the intestional tract not the saprophytes. Over the years this question has been asked a lot. I tend to think that if iodine did kill good bacteria, we would hear a lot about it. I've been taking iodine for over 5 years and haven't had a problem. I do not take probiotics daily. Linn > > Hi Gerry, > I take probiotics daily because they are good for my body. Guest guest
Don't saprophytes live in soil? Guest guest
Yes, but in humans as saprophytic microflora.
