Guest guest
Well we just got our letter for an interview in July.My concern is the TB test.He will have to have another health exam as the previous one was done in the summer/fall of 98'. Someone asked me before about his PPD reaction and x-ray.I just looked through the papers we saved and have the following: TBN reactor( 10x10mm to 16x19mm) Pt. reports getting BCG vaccine as child. Chest X-ray NORMAL TB prevention: 300mg(1 TABLET) DAILY of ISONIZID(INH) The part they highlighted for the reason to give INH to dh is: If your skin test site is swollen and red,but you do not have TB,you may be given INH to prevent TB. Taking this medication can improve your chances of staying well. This medication as I stated before made dh quite ill,and after I finally went to the library and read the insert I promptly put the pills in the garbage. Also, as I mentioned before his recent blood tests showed abnormality with the liver(slight but there). Was INH the cause?Who knows. I just know I do not want him exposed unneccessarily to the PPD or cancer causing x-rays. Is it within our right to refuse these tests? Isn't the BCG the cause of the positive PPD? I have not spoken to our Immigration lawyer yet about this specifically, but from previous discussions on health issue requirements I gathered she is the type who will say:do what you are told, there is no way around the requiremnets. We have a *sticky* situation with INS anyway, and I don't want to ruffle feathers IYKWIM. Suggestions?Dh has been sickly since his *required* DT and MMR booster in the fall of 98'.While the PPD and x-ray may not be that invasive I still feel it poses a slight long term risk.
