Guest guest
Quick OT question for those who have used chiropractic care... Do all chiros require you to get x-rays before they care for you? The one I went to a few years ago insisted that I have a full body set taken (which I didn't want and so didn't get)! Never been to a chiro since for that reason, but it just occurs to me that it might not be a requirement for ALL chiros... Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ~Kelli
Guest guest
3 that I have gone to did not request but I had known one of the families for awhile and the other I was definitely pregnant. The other is a friend of my husband's and came into the restaurant I worked in. Then I went to another chiro and he didn't know me but wanted x-ray (unless I could have been pregnant which is always a possiblity for me it seems!) and so relaxed. there is a possibility of a disc something-or-other and they want to make sure it is not there to save themselves, and you, from a serious injury during manipulation. Why don't you call and ask around before deciding? They are all different. Never had one want a FULL body, just spine... I am not a medical doctor, nor do I portray one on t.v. Guest guest
Here's my experience with chiropractic. While pregnant I had several adjustments. So of course no x-rays. My husband needed to go to the chiropractor and it had been many years so I knew the doc would wanna take x-rays. I felt it was probably a good idea because my husband has an ever so slight curve to the spine (a curve that's not supposed to be there). As you might imagine though, I was concerned about the dosage of radiation he would receive. So I made some calls and found the most wonderful chiropractor/naturopath. This doctor uses a new x-ray machine that uses only half the radiation that standard machines use. And this doc has been our doc ever since! Guest guest
i have to tell you--i was not a big believer in chiropractic care--i had sincere reservations to ever starting with any treatments, as i know people who say they cannot live without their weekly/monthly treatment. and with me being such a big don't-treat-what-isn't-broke kind of person, the idea of needing to go to anyone regularly, seemed terrible to me. anyway (i digress), during my last pregnancy, i developed sciatica early on in the pregnancy (around 4 months) and it got SOOOOOOOOOOO bad that for almost 3 weeks i could barely move...well, i finally decided i couldn't go through the rest of my pregnancy like that--wouldn't be good for me or the baby, let alone my then, 5-6 year old who had to do without me alot!!, so i went to a highly recommended (and very young, like 28year old, i might add), woman in albany, Dr. Channon Moon, who i must tell you is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! she made SUCH a difference in my life!! i was sooo sure that this was not going to do me ANY good, yet there i was feeling LOTS of relief within 20 minutes of meeting her!! and she kept me pain free during my entire pregnancy and gave me a couple of adjustments after sawyer was born...now, i must tell you that i have complete confidence in her abilities to diagnose, handle and treat me and my family!!! she is very " hands on " and very good at what she does!! she made a believer out of me (although i still don't go on any regular basis, and i doubt i ever will--unless i have a re-occurring, chronic condition), but as always with me and my kids (thank God, knock on wood), we are EXTREMELY healthy and rarely get sick!! anyway, just wanted to pop in with my thoughts on the fact that i really do believe that she could feel or would know if there was any pinched nerve or whatever going on in there!! she is really that good--very knowledgeable and very " knowing " with her hands...she also has a homeoplathic way about the way she goes through your case history and all, so she gets a clear picture of what's going on with you... just my opinion, but personally, i would NEVER have an xray done in order to get a chiropractic adjustment--i'll just stick with Dr. Moon!! ) brigit

Guest guest
My hubby guesses it's because they can't FEEL a pinched nerve or a herniated disc and cause some damage if they don't see it from an xray...and then they can opssibly proceed with great caution...he's no chiro so it's just an educated guess...
