Amy,

Look for your health dept on line and they should have a list of *reported*

cases. Most cases of pertussis though are under-reported in older kids/adults.

http://www.fda.gov/oca/sthealth.htm

There is a listing for a pertussis only vaccine, but I believe this is only

sold to companies to make the combo DTP/DTaP vaccine. The Jordan 2000 Report

has a listing of all vaccines on the market, and those in R/D.

When trying to find just a pertussis vaccine, I got duped into the whole

freakin' DTaP. She only had one left in the series and diptheria was

going around also so i figured why not. I figured better this time, but

was wondering what are the risks of wooping cough, what kinds of

treatment are available, and anything else I would need to know about it.

The only case of Full blown Pertussis I have seen was in a fully vacinated

child. The pertussis vaccine has a efficacy rating of about 60%. I know it

can happen to others.. but it can be treated best with alternative medicine

and steam.

Enjoy that baby!

We had six cases of Pertussis two years ago with the newborn nursery at a local

hospital after an employee exposed the infants to it. None of the babies

suffered any adverse effects from it and all 163 babies born in that time frame

were treated with erythromycin. I don't remember the logistics of it, but of

course there was a vaccinations outcry. I don't remember if the employee had

been immunized for sure, but I think he/she had

It says a lot to me that in some(most?) states - the pertussis vaccine is not

required.
