I had to supplement with iron, plus eat tons of liverwurst, etc. It was the pits. I slept or was laying down almost the entire time, except when I had to drive my daughter to school, which was a 45 minute trip one way. My abdomen NEVER recovered. I still get asked if I'm pregnant, and my son is 3-1/2!!!!! I hate the guy.

I wrote the hospital (he was the doctor on call in emergency) and wrote out my specific complaints and why his "tactics" (that's not the only thing he did wrong) were wrong, in addition to the fact that they were against my birth plan which was in their hands at the time of my delivery. Guest guest
" After I had Wyatt, I bled for 10 weeks, due to the pitocin shot the doctor gave me without asking (yes, that's what I said, without asking). I had an 8 day break, and started again. I was NOT however, ovulating. " Oh my word! This exact same thing happened to me. It never occurred to me that it was the pit (which I just want to add was given to against my midwifes orders). I had my second baby at home and only bled for two weeks and only heavy for about three days. My period still hasn't returned at eight months post-partum and I haven't started charting yet so I don't know if I am ovulating or not. Wow, I thought I was just a freak, now it all makes so much sense. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
LYNN HURLEY. That is the name of the evil woman who injected the Pitocin into my IV bag after my midwife told her " No,we won't need that. We are not in any hurry. I'll just watch her. " She didn't even tell anyone she had given it to me. My midwife found it in my chart several hours later. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
Why didn't you try to sue this woman (nurse?) or have the hospital take some kind of administrative action?...Sharon Re: TO: Question about post-partum bleeding > LYNN HURLEY. Guest guest
I just could not let that go. This doctor is evidently under the impression that he is above reproach, and will do this to other women also. There are lawyers out there who would take a case like yours without a retainer, with payment upon settlement. Of course, this all still takes time and alot of hassles and whatnot...sometimes I quess, it's not worth it. That would just really get me...at least you and your baby were not irrepreably damaged. I was so afraid of that kind of thing when I was pregnant...I used a midwife and a birth center instead. It was a beautiful experience...Sharon - Original Message ----- From: cpeter8743@... Guest guest
The whole birth threw me into a spin. Madeline had to be in NICU which had its own set of problems and injustices and by the time I was thinking straight again all the stuff that had happened seemed not so important any more. Then when I was expecting my second one all these issues finally came to light and I finally got to see our medical charts (they just couldn't seem to get a copy to over to the doctor). That's when I realized exactly what had happened to us both when no one was looking. I am not the kind of person to sue, but I will never go back to that hospital. Also I feel I am partly to blame. I really felt my delivery would be exactly how I planned it and wasn't ready for any surprises. I should have had a doula to be my eyes and ears and should have educated myself about what to expect from a pre-term birth since I could see it coming. Live and learn. My second baby had a gentle birth at home and nobody got poked with any needles of anything. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
Well, I'm glad for you and yours that everything ended up being ok. That kind of stuff, from people you are SUPPOSED to be able to count on just totally pi--es me off...Sharon Re: TO: Question about post-partum bleeding > The whole birth threw me into a spin.
