BTW, I thought of you the other night when I was reading the latest issue of

Mothering. Some Moms had written in about their children dealing with

boughts of whooping cough and how it affected them (both children and

parents). It seems that after all was said and done, they were glad that

they had NOT vaccinated. >>

Nimet has had a choking cough the last 3 nights.I certainly am nervous!

Is it on line?Any of it?

Sara, So sorry to hear about your little one! I have a great book (which

I've posted about several times) that gives a wide range of " natural "

treatments for pertussis as well as info on correct diagnosis. The book

is by n , Ph.D. and is called " Natural Medicine for Children,

Drug-Free Health Care for Children from Birth to Age Twelve. " We got our

copy from our local food co-op; if you can't find it anywhere (and are

still searching for info) I could scan the pertussis section and email

it to you tomorrow. Let me know. Namaste, Gretchen >>

Thanks Gretchen.I did save one of your posts regarding this book I just never

got around to looking for it,because I am so busy looking into ovarian cancer

treatments. It is not to bad yet.Just a few times a night she starts coughing

and choking for a few minutes,cries a little,bf's,and then back to sleep.I

have only given echinacea.I do have the SM book so will read that pertussis

section again.I suppose I should prepare myself for the worst, but I am hoping

it is just a cold or maybe even carpet fumes. We'll see. I guess I am always

looking for positive stories as I tend to worry more than most about these

diseases.Hey I admit it- I am a wimp, and am ever second guessing my ability

to assist my dd through these illnesses,as others around me look on

disapprovingly, lol.I will look for that book though. It sounds like a good one

to have on hand.My library might even have it!

Just looked, can't find anything specific. The letters that were written in

were in the Letters To The Editor page.

If you go the main page, www.mothering.com , and go to Recent Articles, at

the bottom is a list of various vaccine topics. Also, it looks as if they

plan to put all of the current articles online soon.

There is also a worthwile multi-page letter from Dr. Incao in response to

the " Mother, antroplologist and public healthcare professional " who wrote in

with a lot of misinformation. She is also one of those ones who held babies

dying of " insert list of diseases " . If anyone is interested, I can try to

copy the letter.

Sara,

You can definately handle your Nimet having whooping cough (if she does

have it)! You had her at home, unassisted! You're an amazing woman with

intelligence! You research and deliver! Don't panic, I know you live

with your mom who is always against your decisions, but, you're the right

one! She's just mainstream! Don't let negativity swoon in on you and

devour you!

According to Dr. Menhleson (forgot how to spell his name... " How to have

a healthy child in spite of your dr. " dude), whooping cough can be tragic

in infants because it can cause them to cough so violently it can break a

rib or something.... otherwise, it runs its course and you can lifetime

immunity!

You're awesome and you're doing awesome for Nimet!
