Guest guest
I'm glad she didn't hurt herself with that razor. It's funny how our girls want to copy what they see. I've had try to pee standing up (why, Daddy does it!), drench herself in perfume, and try to paint her nails and put on my mascara (she even makes all the required funny faces while doing it, just like her mom). Maybe with Grace it is that puberty/adolescent thing, wanting to be like everyone else. Vickie
Guest guest
Your story made me laugh out loud! I remember when I was about 10 or 11, taking a pair of scissors and trying to cut my bushy eyebrows. Only I didn't cut them off...just one big snip in the middle of each eyebrow leaving a nice white hole. I walked around for months with my head down and if anyone asked me what happened, I told them I was sick and the hair fell out <giggle. I've got three of them. The only ones who did any cutting were the oldest (NT) and my youngest (autistic). They (at different times) both cut their bangs off. I've got pictures and they looked really goofy. They can smile about it now. At the time I was more afraid of what if....scissors in the eye what ifs. I'm shaving my autistic's underarms and I'm concerned that she'll start shaving other parts of her anatomy. I talk about not using the razor by herself a lot. Last year her older sister plucked her eyebrows. They were of the cyclops varity and she looked really good. Now I have to keep it up. It's not too bad and after several decades they do seem to dimenish in quanity. Teri
Guest guest
If you have an oriental beauty or nail salon near you ask about threading. The one I go to charges $20 to remove all the extra hair from my face and shape the brows. It takes about 15 min. I am not a hairy person so I guess for some it takes longer. Stings a bit the first time but isn't bad. It is amazing. Anne ANNE LEE'S http://annelees.com/essentialoils.html
Guest guest
to a certain extent-yes.use an eyebrow brush. spray with a little hairspray and brush brows into shape.of course if you have a stray -it will still need plucked-but this helps. SAndi eyebrows Is there any way for me to shape my eyebrows without plucking hair after hair???
Guest guest
I've been lurking on this list for a while now, so I guess I'll make this my first post. There are a few ways you can shape your eyebrows other than plucking them. 1. There's waxing them. I suggest you go to a make up artist or other such person who knows what they are doing if you are going to do that. Don't buy the waxing strips that are sold in such places as walgreen's or walmart etc....they are nothing but a waste. 2. You could shave them. By this I'm not suggesting that you shave them completely off (though if you did that you could just draw in your eyebrows as a lot of people do). Beauty supply stores sell razors meant for just this task. The razors are shaped nicely and have guards on them so you won't end up cutting yourself. 3. You could have them threaded. I don't know where you are at geographically. However, here in Chicago there are a few places that do it, mostly located in section that some refer to as : " Little India " . I haven't had it done myself, but a good friend of mine swears by it. It's fast and there is a very minimal amount of pain. I really wouldn't even say pain...sort of hard to explain or so I'm told. Good luck, eyebrows Is there any way for me to shape my eyebrows without plucking hair after hair???

Guest guest
Don't know that I can describe threading correctly but I think this is what the woman I see does. She takes thread--I think it is just regular cotton sewing thread and somehow wraps it around both hands so that in between she has a loop. She grabs onto hairs with the loop and pulls out one hair at a time. This is very fast- by the time I would get the tweezer on a hair she would have pulled out many many. There is no danger to this and there is some related to sharing and it is my understanding that waxing in the eye area can have some pretty devastating results even when done by professionals. Guest guest
I did some research, and from what I found it's a traditional method of hair removal used by Indian women. It's a process where you take a thread, quickly wrap it around the base of each hair and yank it out. I've heard contrasting stories about whether it hurts more or less than waxing ~rebecca > What exactly is this process? > > Kerry

Guest guest
This is kinda strange that my girlfriend is having the problem, and her thyroid came back normal also, but her doctor told her that happens sometimes even when the thyroid test come back so-called normal. What's normal for you? Hmmm... that is the question to ponder on, because many people symptoms go away when they are treated with medication, even though their test came back in normal ranges.. It's important to get a doctor that knows his stuff (keeps up the latest medical treatments) and is flexible. I know my mother in law has it and she spent a lot of time and money before they finally treated her thyroid. Hope this helps, Pam --- fuzzyelfone <fuzzyelf@...> wrote: > Hi all! Guest guest
I haven't lost eyebrow hair, but I have been losing hair in the crown of my head for quite some time. It is painfully thin and very embarrasing!! I see that it is one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Like me, it sounds like you need to get to that Endocrinologist ASAP! I've already started the process for my appointment. Let's stay in touch. Eyebrow loss is not nearly as threatening as some other things.....keep the faith, and let's just pray that we both get doctors that are not too quick to just dismiss our symptoms!!! Take Care, > > Hi all! I haven't posted in a while. Guest guest
Thanks and Pam... Another doc told me that if your thyroid comes back normal, it only means that the levels in your blood are normal and it tells you nothing about whether ot not your cells are absorbing it. I told that to the general prac that I saw Thursday and she blew me off - that's the last time I see her. Damned HMO's. Anyway, then another doc (someone I work with) said that if my TSH came back normal (which as I've said, it did) that the only other thing it could be would be ovarian cysts. All I can do is wait for the appt with the next doc, meanwhile I'm looking like a mangy dog and feeling like I'm losing my mind.... Guest guest
Um, I don't know that this will be paritcularly upliftting, but it's all I got. TSH isn't the only thing that needs to be looked at as it doesn't tell the whole story - your T4 levels and your Free T3 levels need to be looked at specifically. They could be slightly out of whack . If you've got an appointment with an endocrinologist then you are on the right track. I personally don't know of anything else which causes eyebrow hair to fall out. With thyroid disease it usually falls out from the the outside end, so if it's falling out in the middle or towards the inner corners it may very well be something else. But, hey, no weight gain with a back injury - that's great! Everytime I put my back out I gain 3-5 pounds so I'm in awe of you. Scout > > Hi all! I haven't posted in a while. Guest guest
My eyebrows fell out about the time my mom died (2 years ago) , and now, as they grow back in and actually show up--they fall out again. All my bloodwork has been normal and my dr has attributed it to my body's reaction to stress. I haven't a clue..... But I would love to have eyebrows again. Right now, one has about twice as many hair in it as the other, and if you added them together, you would have about 1/2 of a normal eyebrow. Guest guest
Well, the brows started falling out at the middle corners...but last night I swear some of the hairs (from my head) around the temple came out...but maybe that was just normal hair falling out that I wouldn't have otherwise noticed...I'm so scared... anyway, about the weight management...I haven't lgained, I think, b/c I *have* lost muscle and replaced it with good ole, all-American squish...so the last time I checked I had gained a couple of inches at the midsection.... sothicscout wrote: > Um, I don't know that this will be paritcularly upliftting, but it's > all I got. Guest guest
People keep asking me if I'm stressed...I don't feel like I am, but who isn't in some way, right? All I know is that if I wasn't before I sure am now... what do you do? draw them on or what? have you looked into cortisone injections or hair transplant? Guest guest
Hi I had a visit to my endo yesterday and thought you all might find this interesting! He had a medical student with him. He asked me for symptoms and I starting going through my list. When I told him that I had lost the outer third and part of the inner sides of my eyebrows. He said " oh he (referring to the student) won't know anything about that, it's not in the text books. That's a very old way doing things and we won't go into that now " ! So our future doctors when told by a patient that they've lost the outer third of their eyebrows and are going to get blank looks! When we left my husband said, at least that's one student that's heard about it! Liz
