Guest guest
Hi Thank you so much for your reply, Sheila, it was really helpful. You say it's not worth me persevering with NDT until I know what the problem is, do you mean it's better for my body not to take any thyroid meds at all until then? To go through the list, I believe my adrenals are fine - I have been taking HC for a year now and feel stable on it. I have been tested negative for systemic candidiasis (thank goodness) I have a few childhood amalgam fillings but I'm not sure how to tell if these are causing me any problems? Re: Iron - I'm a bit confused - I tend to take my iron supps just before bed but it is a lot all in one go and I would rather split them up. Is it correct that I can't take iron 4 hrs before or 4 hrs after my thyroid meds? Because splitting my NDT into 2 doses I can't seem to fit the iron in? Perhaps someone would be kind enough to comment on my recent blood tests results: B12 645 pg/mL (191-663) Serum Magnesium 0.77 mmol/L (0.70-1.00) Serum 25-Hydroxy vitamin D3 level 73 nmol/L (50-140) - I am supplementing 1000iu as this seems on the low side? Serum caeruloplasmin 0.29 g/L (0.20-0.60) Serum copper level 20.2 umol/L (11-22) Serum folate OR 20 ng/mL (4.6-18.7) - I am taking folic acid from GP - should I stop this now? Zinc 9.9 (11-24) LOW - I have been prescribed Solvazinc 125mg x 1 tab by my GP and have been taking this for approx 4 wks I'm not sure I understand the following? Serum sodium 141 mmol/L (137-145) Serum potassium 3.6 mmol/L (3.5-5.1) Serum urea level 5.5 mmol/L (2.5-7.5) Serum creatine 76 umol/L (46-92) GFR calculated abbreviated MDRD >60 mL/min/1.73m^2 I would really appreciate any comments, or help. Thanks in anticipation Liesha .......................vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Get all of > these checked by your GP and post the results here. Guest guest
Hi all I have been reading that armour is not as effective as it used to be. Guest guest
, he went on to say that Armour is not tested properly , it is off animals and we all know about BSE etc . > What an idiot - Armour was used for over a hundred years before they developed synthetic thyroxine and the only reason it hasn't been 'tested' properly is because they didn't think it needed to be as it has been used for so long!! and doesn't he know it comes from pigs not cows! How many pigs did you hear of with BSE!!!!!!!! Taking Armour has given me my brain back and that just wasn't happening with thyroxine only! How do I know this? Well Prof F told me the same thing - I told her I was well aware of her views about Armour but she still tried to convince me so I researched it! sorry for the rant - it makes me really cross!! Guest guest
Frustrating! I'm guessing you should either get another doc that's NDT friendly or send your current doc the tons of literature available from this sight that proves Armour is safe and effective. Hang in there!
