Guest guest
Current blood work is TSH 0.09 / FT3 - 4.6 and FT4 19 (Ranges at lab are TSH ..35-5.0/FT3 2.6-5.7/FT4 12-22). They no longer do Reverse T4 in Canada. Still have hypo symptoms so wondering how my meds should be adjusted. Am I converting T4 to T3 correctly according to my results? Or do I need to get my endo to prescribe T3 and reduce my T4 synthroid med. I'm currently taking .1 of synthroid but continue to lose my hair and gain weight. Was on .115 and endo decreased and then hair started falling out again, eyebrows thinning on outer corner on left side only. Don't know how to interpret my results without the Reverse T4 calculation. Guest guest
I think you need to find out whether you are suffering with any of the associated conditions that go along with being hypothyroid first, to enable you to treat whatever you might be suffering from so that the thyroid hormone you are taking at present has a chance to get properly utilised at the cellular level. Please see the attached document and go through each of the conditions mentioned there and you should be able to get tested for all of these (or any you suspect might be a problem) as a process of elimination. Ask your GP also to test your level of specific minerals/vitamins that if low, will also stop the thyroid hormone being fully utilised until whatever is low has been supplemented to bring it's level back up. These are ferritin: vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Should your doctor tell you there is no association between low levels of these and thyroid hormone absorption, then print off the other attached document citing the scientific research that shows such association. With such a high Free T4 you may not be fully converting it to the active thyroid hormone T3. T3 results should be well into the upper third of the reference range. You need both TOTAL Free T3 and FREE T3 to be able to interpret any REVERSE T3.
