Guest guest
Hi - if you are sleeping well with no disturbance then it is fine to take your Euthyral when you go to bed. However, if you find the active thyroid hormone T3 keeps you awake, then take in the morning. Also, as you increase your dose, you may find it better to take your dose twice daily. First thing in a morning and again the middle of the afternoon. This is because T3 has a very short half life and you start to lose the effect after 6 to 8 hours and probably feel like having a nap or suddenly drooping. Taking it twice a day stops this happening. When are you considering increasing your dose to 1.5tablets? Are you taking 200mcgs Selenium and 15mgs zinc. You should also take at least 1000mgs vitamin C. Luv - Sheila As I wrote a few days ago, I'm out of hospital and now back in Britain. I've been taking Euthyral for 4 days now and I am feeling a lot calmer than before. I have also noticed today that the strength in my arms seems to be improving. I also seem to be less sensitive to the cold than I was. I do still feel tired but I'll see how I go on that. Euthyral is a synthetic T3/T4 combination tablet containing 100mcg T4 and 20 mcg T3. Is it best to take it in the morning or in the evening, or to split the dose? The endcrinologist prescribed 1.5 tablet in the morning on an empty stomach. I am currently taking 1 tablet and building up to 1.5 if I feel OK, and I'm taking it last thing at night like I did with Levothyroxine. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thank you for your advice. I went on to 1.5 tablet night before last and noticed it did indeed keep me awake, so I've switched to 1 tablet in the morning and half in the afternoon. I also feel that 1.5 might be a bit much as I felt slightly hyper, so I'm going to try 1.5 and 1 on alternate days. How long should I wait to eat after taking my tablet? How long after a meal do I have to wait? I find it all a bit difficult since I have to eat often to support my adrenals. I am fine on the Vitamin C and the Selenium but was not getting enough Zinc. I bought a zinc picolinate 22mg supplement and am getting 6mg zinc ascorbate from NAX. Is that OK? On another note, I wish to thank you for your support and wish you a happy Christmas. Guest guest
Taking any medication containing T3 will not help by taking a larger dose one day and a smaller dose the next. T3 has a very short half life and the effect starts to wear off after 6 to 8 hours. You need to lower your dose and just take 1tablet daily (split into two) and when your body has got used to that, then increase slowly by .25 rather than .5. You can take T3 with food because it is not absorbed through the gut, but any medication containing thyroxine (T4) must be taken at least an hour away from food or drink. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thank you. I was following the endocrinologist's advice re: alternating doses because the tablets are hard to split into quarters. Guest Mia
Hello, You can buy a pill cutter (it's cheap) and it works well (that's what I do, because I have to take 5/4)
