Hi Sheila

Thanks for your post.  Re private endo.  I’ve

not had to pay for any private tests.  I just paid for the consultation and the

GP is doing the tests on the Endo’s instructions.   However, I don’t

think this is a permanent state of affairs and I will be referred NHS to the

Endo by the GP as currently the GP is paying for everything.  The private

consultation cost £250.  I have to say this is the second time I’ve done

this – I first did it with the ophthalmic surgeon who diagnosed my

thyroid by picking up my TED.  Once he’d figured this out he moved me to

his NHS clinic as I needed MRIs and blood tests and he said ‘it is your

right as a patient to get this treatment on the NHS’.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of the

NHS and ordinarily wouldn’t dream of jumping the queue but I was just so desperate

to be seen. 

But agree makes good sense to check with the Endo

first re NHS / Private.
