minimum beneficial level of T3

I have recently quit(day 2) taking 12.5 mcg of T3 and feel much better. On such

a low level of T3, I would get crushing waves of depression which would appear

fron nowhere during the course of the day.

As background, I was doing fairly well on 62.5 mcg generic T3 and pushed up to

100 mcg in order to clear(still felt OK, not great) which happened in a very

dramatic and negative way.

I then cut right back(25 mcg then 12.5 mch) as the experience was a nightmare.

Before clearing I felt quite clear-headed and only slightly depressed. After

clearing, I felt as if I had cotton wool for brains and beside myself with

anxiety. I have not fully recovered my cognitive abilities after 5 weeks, which

is very frightening.

I should mention, I was supplementing HC at a fairly high level(35 mg), but have

since weaned off. Iron following iron shots was optimal.

My RT3/T3 ratio was 6.7 prior to T3 supp.

2 questions:

1. 12.5 mcg is clearly causing me to feel more hypothyroid. What would the

minimum level be that would be beneficial?

2. Has anyone any idea why my experience of 'clearing' would have been so

horrible? Has anyone had a similar experience which resulted in a change of

direction which has proved beneficial? I'm thinking of going back up to the 62.5

mcg dose and staying there, in the hopes that the RT3, which is no doubt

building up again, will very gradually decay.

Thanks so much for all the great information on this site.
