Guest guest
HI ALL My answer to this is that THYROID DISEASE has become worse due to the man made chemicals etc, in fact the whole planet is suffering from the impact of all this. All the plastics that are made have to get into the atmosphere, and then come back down in the rain onto the food we then have to eat. We also have to breath in the fumes from all this. Cooking utensils were once made from cast iron, but I for one could not lift anything that heavy now, and alluminium was said to cause health problems, so apart from teflon coated pans we are left with stainless steel. Are these OK on the health front. At one time you used to be able to buy replacement handles and knobs for the tops in turn helping with global warming and the rubbish pile up, but today they want you to buy a whole new set of saucepans. Does anybody know if plastic steamers are safe to cook with and if they too let off a chemical when heated up that in turn gets in our food to make us ill. Guest guest
That's all very well, but what is there left to cook with? Aluminium is not safe. Stainless steel is not as inert as claimed so you can get nickel poisoning from it. When I switched to a cast iron pan my iron levels got too high. All that is left are pyrex or enamel coated pans (not that easy to find, and not particularly hard wearing). Any other suggestions? Miriam > > I don't think this topic has been posted yet on TPA.
