Should T3 be doing more by now?

Hi Everyone

I've been on T3 only for about 4/5 months now (after taking T4 and Armour and

not doing very well on them), seeing Dr P building it up as advised along with

NAX and other vits (selenium, zinc, iron, vit c, vit d, vit B). I'm now on 3

25mcg T3 tablets a day (been on that dose for 4 weeks so far) so 75mcg daily and

5 NAX and other vits.

I guess I thought I would be doing better by now and am beginning to get a bit

demoralised by the whole thing. Been sick for 30 years, seen countless idiot

and very nasty doctors, including surposedly wonderful endos and others so have

been through the whole try it and see routine at least a million times it feels

like.

Some things seem to have improved - I've suffered from terrible hyperacusis all

my life and had to take tablets for it three times a day but havent had to take

them hardly at all since starting the T3 (I was on Armour before the T3 and this

improved my hyperacusis also). I am taking much less headache and pain

medication and feel a lot happier most of the time barring PMT.

But I just don't seem to be improving energywise at all and I feel like I should

be by now. I spend most days in a daze assuming I manage to wake up at all and

taking the T3 seems to have no affect as far as staying awake or feeling

mentally or physically alert goes. I have to have 3 different alarms set in the

morning as I struggle to wake up and take it and then I instantly just fall back

to sleep again til the afternoon. I guess I thought by now and at this dose my

energy might have improved. Even writing this is taking me an age as I just

feel like going to bed.

The whole time I've been ill the only time I ever seem to have any energy is a

few days before my period is due (I don't actually have the period as I have

endometriosis and take the contraceptive pill to stop them - Dr P knows all

this) then I just plummet energy wise and spend the other 3 weeks of the month

like a zombie. I've been keeping a diary for Dr P and the more I look at it the

more I feel like nothing has changed energy wise. The only days I can say I

have energy are the two days before a period is due and it was always that way

long before I even knew I had hypo.

I'm not sure whether I'm expecting too much too soon from the T3 and was just

wondering if other people have felt better by this time or as bad as I do?

Should I feel better by now? The T3 I'm taking is also Tiromel and I was

wondering if the brand makes a difference. I've ordered 'branded cytomel' twice

now and paid more for it only to receive Tiromel and be told it is exactly the

same but I have read that some brands are different strengths to others and I

guess I'm just trying to explore every possibility as to why I don't seem to

have any more energy now than I did this time last year ; (

I expected it to take a long time given that I've been ill for so long and just

left that way, but when I saw Dr P a few weeks ago he kind of gave me the

impression I should maybe be doing better by now, and other people I know on T3

seem to be doing so much better than I am so it's starting to make me feel

worried about it now.

Any advice much appreciated - I'm going back to bed now ; )

Bunny
