Re: Can periods make adrenal fatigue worse

Hi

Before and during my period I've been wiped out and low and I just wondered if

this time of the month can be an extra strain on the adrenals? The periods

themselves and cycles are fine but I do get pain/aches around the kidney area

and some abdominal cramp that feels like a congestion of toxins. The adrenal

fatigue seems at lot worse and feels like I've relapsed as I was starting too

feel a bit better. Does anyone know of a conection?

Thanks

It's more likely to be an imbalance between oestrogen and progesterone. Have

you done the Genova Diagnostics Progesterone/Oestradiol Balance test done? (It

cost me £65 in 2008).

Dr Lee has written various books on the subject. Here is his website:

Hi, my understanding is the adrenal hormones regulate the sex hormones, so it is likly the other way round.in turn the thyroid if fluctuating as in hashimoto`s or even thyroid issues, then this will have an effect on the adrenals and then the sex hormones oestrogin and progesterone. which then gives the symptoms of PMS or PMT. but they are the same really. hope this helps explain this problem. I myself have had this problen for over 30 years,, but only got releaf when on progesteone cream. Angel.PS. remember this is how the feed back loop is used by the body to regulate all hormones keeping the body in balance.

Hi

I too get tired around my period, and can feel quite low in myself. I take a bit

extra HC and it usually sorts things out. If not I take an extra 5mg of T3. I've

checked my temps around my period when I feel ill and they're always low, so I

feel ok about upping the HC and T3 to give my system a kick. I'm also oestrogen

dominant, and use progesterone cream which has helped with PMS enormously. But

my adrenals remain vulnerable and sometimes still can't cope around ovulation

and menstruation. I recognise the achy kidneys thing - a sure sign for me that

my adrenals are stressed, along with shaky, weak legs, anxiety and tearfulness.

Hope this helps.

Hi Sue, Miriam and Angel,

Thanks for your advice and comments. I too have noticed a temp drop around the

period time and I notice a temp drop when my adrenals are particularly flagging.

I'm just waiting for my FT3 results to see what's going on there too. I notice

that you said (Sue) that you increase a bit of T3 around this time so this could

be an option maybe -thanks

I used to get that. I think it is a drop in progesterone which also converts to

cortisol. I increased my HC until my adrenals became stable.
