Guest guest
Sorry to keep on boring you all with the Block & Replace therapy but as I am looking into it at the moment in order to make up my mind on what to do with my medication I am surprised to hear so many conflicting opinions. First of all the length of treatment suggested depends on the country and the hospital in which it is prescribed. In France there seem to be a consensus that 18 months is the minimum amount of time one should be taking the Block & Replace therapy while in England (and at King's College London) they argue no research has shown that it makes any difference whether you take it for 6 or 12 months. Now I hear that you should only be prescribed Block & Replace once in a life time and that if it doesn't work the options are removal of the thyroid or Carbimazole only therapy. In France they argue that another Block & Replace treatment can be done and are against the Carbimazole only on the ground the thyroid cannot rest! I am very confused!
