Hi,

Just to let you know that after having to have my blood pressure tested (T3 bad

for our hearts!) and then a telephone consultation with my GP, I am having a

trial for one month of 5mcg of Liothyronine! I shall see how I go on with that

but I have to have my BP tested in 2 weeks from starting the drug. Not sure how

I break up a 20mcg pill which is very small apparently.

I have been reading a lot lately about the connection between autoimmune

diseases including thyroid, and gluten. I can recommend a book called Is Gluten

Making Me Ill and Living With Gluten Intolerance but there are many others. I

have eliminated wheat for a few months now and I have dropped from 13st 6/7lbs

to 12st. My husband is also losing weight at the same rate. I have recently

taken this a step further and going gluten free and I find there are many GF

foods in the supermarkets now which goes to prove there are more and more gluten

intolerant people out there. Our diet is still good, in fact better, and

filling. There is nothing processed in my fridge and I try to buy organic fruit

and vegetables but not always. Bread is not easy to make - at least I have not

found the perfect recipe - but a friend tells me that our local Tesco actually

bakes gluten free crusty bread on the premises although it is not labelled as

such. I shall make a trip and ask soon.

I got talking to a lady in Waitrose on Saturday and she told me that she had

been told of gluten and thyroid by her homeopath/herbalist and after trying GF

she said her blood tests were back to normal. The homeopath had also had good

results from this way of eating.

I think that going GF might mean you lack in certain vitamins that are added to

flour e.g. calcium so do look into this.

All I can say is google gluten and thyroid but even eliminating wheat is good

for weightloss. I am on 50mcg of Levothyroxine still. I am just hoping that I

can sort the thyroid problem with diet. We shall see!
