Hello Sheila,

Thank-you very much for that. I apologise; I should have said that I have previously checked through the conditions that can prevent thyroid replacement from working - which is why I am puzzled as to why nothing seems to help. I've been on HC for a few years for adrenal problems and tests for candida (via Dr P) have proved negative. My 3 remaining mercury fillings were removed in 2008 and testing for vitamin / mineral levels showed good levels of B12, iron and ferratin, but low levels of some such as selenium, magnesium and zinc - however I have been taking these, along with high dose vitamin C, vitamin D, the B vitamins, CoQ10, and some others, for quite a while. I was found to have low progesterone levels, but these are better with a herbal supplement of chasteberry and black cohosh.

Many thanks for your help.

Hazel.

RE: Switching to Armour [1 Attachment]

Hi Hazel, you will have heard this a lot of times before and you will hear it a lot of times since. No amount of thyroid hormone replacement, not synthetic T4 alone, synthetic T4/T3 combination, T3 alone or natural thyroid extract is going to help you one bit if you are suffering with any of the associated conditions. See the attached document, and go through each of these possibilities as a process of elimination. This must not be 'guess work' if there is a possibility, you need to get the adrenal and candida tests done privately through Genova and ask your GP to test your levels of ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc, and post the results together with the reference ranges here on the forum so we can help with the interpretation.

Luv - Sheila

Hello Folks,

I would be grateful for some advice. Due to not responding well to T3 and T4, I was advised to change to Armour thyroid in the hope that I would get on better with it. I have now been on Armour for 9 days - and I am getting worse. I didn't feel good before, but am just going down-hill. Just typing this is a major effort. Is this normal when switching from synthetic to Armour? If so, how long until things start to pick up?

Many thanks in advance.

Hazel.
