Guest guest
Hello Sheila First of all I too would like to wish you birthday greetings although belated and echo all that has been said about you you are indeed a special person. I also hope that all went well for you in Birmingham. Sadly I could not make it as we were on holiday and boy did it rain! However I managed to get out and about and that is a big bonus for me even though I used my scooter. It was a nice break. Then when I got home my Genova results were back and I wept. How is it that for twelve years I have suffered so intensely and often it has been attributed to stress or all in the mind or if I chose to get better I would or if I had a good enough reason to get better then I would. One doctor even suggested a toy boy might be the answer do you believe that? Anyway here are the results and I shall take them to Theodora next week: Cortisol levels On wakening 1.7 after four hours(noon) 1.1 after four hours (tea time)1.o and prior to sleep 0.5 Range is 21-41 DHEA: a.m. 0.11 and pm 0.05 DHEA:Cortisol ratio 1.86 I am upset and at the same time so pleased that I now have something that actually confirms how ill I am. I so look forward to seeing Theo and connecting up the dots as it were and maybe for the first time in 12 years I will regain a feeling of wellness. I have truly forgotten what it is like to feel well and long to wake up without pain and exhaustion. Love Audrey. Love Audrey

Guest guest
Hi That's interesting. My results (apart from the 1st) were almost identical, but I've never had a Short Syacthen test.Mine were :Sample 1 - 5.6 (12 - 22)Sample 2 - 1.2 (5 - 9)Sample 3 - 0.6 (3 - 7)Sample 4 - 0.5 (1 - 3)Total Daily Cortisol - 7.9 nmol/LI did have a "triple test", which consisted of ITT, TRH & GNRH. Would these replace the Short Synacthen test? These were my results btw : TRH Test T4 TSH2 PROL2 Time nmol/L mU/L mU/L 10:00 89 2.8 246 10:20 ? 13.8 672 11:00 ? 12.2 873 macroprolactin not indicated as Prolactin within normal 11m it's Normal TSH response to TRH Insulin Stress Test CORT GH GLU Time nmol/L mU/L mmol/L 10:00 543 0.9 5.2 10:30 595 39.9 1.1 11:00 766 24.4 2.8 11:30 703 22.9 3.7 12:00 619 11.2 4.4 Adequate response to hypoglycemia GNRH LH FSH TESTO SHBG Time u/L u/L nmol/L nmol/L 10:00 6.3 4.0 12 21 10:30 24.4 6.8 11:00 23.0 6.8 11:30 18.9 6.3 Normal response to GNRH Audrey, The reference levels you gave don't really mean that much, there are individual reference ranges for each time the cortisol is measured, the genova ones are someting like.... (Based on my own tests last year from Genova) Sample 1 12 - 22 you were 1.7 Sample 2 5 - 9 " " 1.1 Sample 3 3 - 7 " " 1 Sample 4 1 - 3 " " 0.5 What did Genova say about these results in their commentary? I would suggest that you take the results to your doctor as a matter of urgency, along with the letter out of the files about quality assurance from Genova.. thyroid treatment/files/%20ADRENAL%20TEST%20LABS/ and DEMAND a short syacthen test. Your results are so dangerously low that if the doctor takes no notice of your tests he is negligent. You really cannot afford to let this lie for any time at all and it MUST be treated. Write a letter to the doc outlining your concerns and hand deliver it today along with a second copy to the practice manager for your files. This will mean that if the doc is playing silly buggers and ingnoring you, there will be a record of your request in your file so that there could be repercussions for him if you died through non treatment. Audrey, I know this sounds alarmist and panicky, but adrenal failure really is a very serious matter. Get on to the doc NOW!! xx (Galathea)
Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, unfortunately, nobody can explain anything without a reference range for the particular times of day your saliva was tested. We cannot tell, without the reference range, whether your results are at the bottom, the middle, the top or even outside of the range. Let's have those and we will look at these again. Please can someone explain the following results for me Cortisol 4.4 {waking] 9.5 lunch 7.1 evening 4.1 bed. Dhea mean0.47 range 0.10 0.50 Dhea cortisol ratio 1.87.. range 0.4 2.
Guest guest
Hi Shelia, sorry for omitting the reference range for my results here they are sample 1) 4.4 [ref 12-22] sam 2) 9.5 [5.0-9.0] sam3) 7.1 [3.o-7.0] sam 4) 4.1 [1.0 3.o] the range is 21-41nmol/L. Total daily cortisol 25.1 inside range. DHEA levels sample 2) am 0.46 3 )pm 0.48 cortisol ratio 1.87. DHEA mean.o.47 ref.0.10-0.50. DHEA cort. ratio range 0.4-2.0. According to Genova, my 4 samples are outside range but my daily cort is inside range, very confusing to me. I hope I am sending you all you need to know to tell wether I should be treating my Adreanals. I have purchased Nutri Adreanal supp. and selenium . I have worked my way to 3 N.A.S. per day. I have difficulty waking in the mornings, is there anyway I can alter this? Sorry if I'm rambling but I do need advice. My Endo. didn't take much notice of these results saying he hed been to a discussion which advised not to rely on these, Thanks once again Shelia Luv Carolyn > > > > Hi Carolyn, unfortunately, nobody can explain anything without a reference > > range for the particular times of day your saliva was tested. Guest guest
Carolyn, You seem to have enough cortisol to get you through the day, but it's not being made when you need it to be... Really it should be highest in the morning when you wake up and then it drops all day so it's at it's lowest point at night. When you sleep, are you in a completely dark room? It should be so dark that you cannot see your hand in front of your face. The low morning cortisol is the reason you can't wake up. Not sure what you do about it all though..... Maybe NAX to give some support.. and vitamin C. . <carolynandrews2007@...> wrote: > > Hi Shelia, sorry for omitting the reference range for my results > here they are > sample 1) 4.4 [ref 12-22] sam 2) 9.5 [5.0-9.0] sam3) 7.1 [3.o-7.0] sam 4) 4.1 [1.0 3.o] the range is 21-41nmol/L. Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, thanks for providing the reference range for your 24 hour adrenal stress profile. Yes, this shows a fair bit of adrenal stress there and you need to take into account. Unfortunately, endocrinologists don't take into consideration low adrenal reserve (or adrenal fatigue), which is quite criminal, when you think that these are stages leading to either 's Disease. (if your cortisol secretion is too low, or Cushing's Syndrome (if your cortisol secretion is too high). You do need to treat these results to get your levels of cortisol secretion back to where they should be at specific times during the day. Your first sample should have been high in the reference range to help you get through the day, and your last sample (No. 4) should have been at it's lowest in the range to help you go to sleep, and sleep through the night. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th sample are all right at the top of the range. Once you get your adrenals functioning better, you will start to sleep better and wake up refreshed, but you may need to wait for the NAE to start working better. Are you taking high doses of vitamin C to help with absorption, i.e. 4/5000mcgs daily? Luv - Sheila sample 1) 4.4 [ref 12-22] sam 2) 9.5 [5.0-9.0] sam3) 7.1 [3.o-7.0] sam 4) 4.1 [1.0 3.o] the range is 21-41nmol/L. Total daily cortisol 25.1 inside range.
