Guest guest
Hi Sheila, You have my sympathy. I think I " know " you from other message boards, but I usually keep my head well below the parapet & hang about only to learn. Sad but true. :-( BTW, Melatonin worked for me. Guest guest
I take Inositol. It puts me to sleep. I'm not sure it takes away the constant waking, but I feel much more refreshed in the morning than when not taking it. anne > I began taking 1 and 1/2 grains of natural Melatonin half an hour before bedtime and notice that although it claims NOT to be a sedative - I was feeling quite dozey very soon. I am the same exact way, and all they told me was that I had delta wave intrusions in my sleep. So basically she said that I hurt when I'm asleep and it keeps me from going into the deep levels of sleep. But to me that doesn't explain Why I don't go to sleep. Also do you get a day or so about every 2 or 3 months where you want to sleep all the time and nap during the day for most of the day? I am very curious about sleep disorders and all that stuff and how people are affected. I had a pt who had narcolepsy once. He went to sleep when he got excited. He said it was no fun because like when you went fishing, if you caught a big fish, you fall asleep. I wanted so bad to ask him if it affected his sex life...LOL, But never got the nerve. What do you take? I am on halcion right now with elavil 2 hrs before my bedtime. It seems to help. Oh, And another question...Do you dream? One doc told me if you didn't dream when you did sleep that it was very abnormal. in Bama VBG 1982 (lost from 433lbs to 270's) VBG -RNY1996 revision(Lost from 343 to 299) RNY-DS revision Dec 2002 -down 122 lbs (377.7 to 255.6 and still going) Homepage address- http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Many thanks to Dr. K willing to take on a 3rd timer....LOL

Guest guest
======================================= Mel: I've Never had a sleep study...I can guarentee you that If you put me in a room where I was supposed to sleep, it wasn't my bed and I was monitored...I wouldn't sleep...after a week I would be a mental zombie but still awake. I've had the problem since birth....my mom said I never slept...and when I did 15 min. was the max.....now.. if I sleep 4 hours I consider that a good night...When I do sleep I always " surface " awake throughout the night...if I wake up without several " memories " through the night it feels really weird, kinda scary to me....I am always sleep deprived on some level. I rarely dream...I don't sleep deep enough most of the time. Although I love visitors, I dread it overnight because I feel " trapped " and can't roam the house freely. I rarely mention any of this to a Doctor because it is NORMAL to me. I've never known anything different. Sometimes I'm sooo tired I can't keep my eyes open...but the brain doesn't fall asleep. I have both insomnia problems....falling asleep...and Staying asleep. The older I get the more it kicks my butt. Jo
Guest guest
Jo, I can so relate to this - staying with anyone or having anyone stay at our house is hard. I ALMOST hate vacations. Hotels - blech! I cannot stand to have hubby and kids asleep and I have to lay in the hotel bed - still - so as to not wake them! UGH! Our best vacations are when we get a condo so I can roam when I need to. Do you nap? Naps save me! I was a good sleeper until I had kids. hugs, cindy lee > Although I love visitors, I dread it overnight because I > feel " trapped " and can't roam the house freely. > > > Jo

Guest guest
I'm feeling sad my mama jo has these problems - she is always so helpful to everyone else.... get some meds mama - please! Hey - maybe thats why you get so grouchy (grin) sometimes - just kidding > > Kim Nah, no ADHD...It's just me....I'm really not complaining, just explaining. It also isn't " torture " , at least not to me, because I know no other way....but...lol...it can make me grouchy! But only because I care. Which reminds me...I need to call our Ann from Santee...As Amy knows, Ann was in the " CAN " talking (she didn't know I was in there) and she said she wasn't taking her suppliments. WELL y'all know how well that set with me. I scolded her, then preceded to tattle tale on her to Her Doctor Z. I asked him to " talk to her " , which he did. Then A couple days later I had dinner with her and she still wasn't taking them...excuses, excuses...I told her she wasn't going to like it one bit when I inserted them up her butt. When we went our own way she was headed to Walmarta to buy some. But I haven't called and found out if she is taking them or not.... are you out there...If she still isn't taking them I want your help in holding her down while I insert them. Guest guest
Hi Jo! I've been reading this thread with interest because I seem to have your problem, maybe not as extreme. But, contrary to what you think, I'll bet you do dream. It takes me hours sometimes to fall asleep but even if I'm asleep for only 10 minutes, I almost always dream. Is that a deep sleep? Couldn't possibly be. But, it happens all the time. I'm convinced it's the only reason I can function on so little sleep. What humans really need isn't the rest so much as the dreaming. In fact, if we don't dream, we hallucinate. In other words, our bodies will make us dream whether we want to or not. So, you may not remember it, but I'll bet you anything you Are dreaming. You have my sympathies, my friend! I know your pain. Hugs! Guest guest
Sam has never had any sleep problems after IVIG. It could be that there is enough renewed energy that she simply does not require the sleep. Does she take a nap during the day? If so, you could try letting her stay awake more during the day to see if that helps. Sometimes drinking warm milk helps. Make sure that her midnight activities are very low stimulation. Good luck. I know that's got to be frustrating and exhausting for the adults. God bless, Wenoka Sleep Problems Has anyone ever noticed sleep problems with their child after IVIG? Noelle(age 5) has been waking up and playing for 4-5 hours every night around midnight since her infusion on Fri. She is not having any symptoms of getting sick she's just wide awake and cannot sleep. Any suggestions? Thanks, Sara

Guest guest
From Dale, Mom to Katy, CVID, age 20 Is she getting Benadryl with her IVIG? Sometimes Benadryl will produce a pop in energy and wakefulness when it wears off -- especially when they've slept a lot during the IV. If you are using Benadryl -- talk to the doctor and see if they can decrease the dose or try a different pre-medication. One thing we did notice is a LOT of energy about 3 days post IVIG. She didn't want to go to bed at night, didn't want to slow down and she would just be hyper because she felt good for the first time in a month! Guest guest
Rebekah is less sleepy for several days after her infusion! She sleeps at night, but has trouble getting to sleep at her regular time or she gets up mighty early. She seems to have a BURST of energy for a few days. Its hard as her mom to go from droopy, sleepy and undemanding child to super charged child who wants to dance and twirl all night. Guest guest
Hi I have not been online for a long time but sleep is a huge issue for me. I dont know what your med condition is but I have several autoimmune probs, and have had sleep issues for over 5 years and take 2 benzo's for it(temazepam and clonazepam), It can be hard to get docs to give youo anything at all for it and at first they will make you try the non narcotic drugs which actually kept me more awake. finally they will go to these if you keep on them if the others dont work it is stressful because when I dont get sleep everything is crazy and I really cant do anything good luck and sorry youre having so much trouble Colleen
Guest guest
I'm sure pain and stress contribute and I don't want to take nightly drugs for sleep. The docs gave me valium but I hate taking any daily drugs. Fortunately, I don't have sleep apnea. Lee > Sleep Apnea??? Narcolepsy??? Medication??? Fibromyalgia??? Lupus SLE > ??? Stress???
