Guest guest
I'm due to see an Endocrinologist on the NHS early next month. My last bloods were drawn whilst I was in hospital recently with multiple pulmonary embolisms. TSH was 0.05; T4 was 22. As a result of these tests the endo came to see me on the cardiac ward and strongly advised that I stop taking my medication which was 2 grains of Armour daily. I don't have and never have had ANY hyper symptoms on Armour and have used it for several years (bar one possibility which I'll explain) and infact still feel quite hypo, i.e. fatigue, cold all the time, continuing weight gain. What took me into hospital was severe tachycardia (at 180bpm) and then the embolisms diagnosed via a lung scan. Since being out of hospital 2 weeks ago I'm now on just 100mcg daily of Levothyroxine. My dilemma (and obvious worry) is that whever I take it my resting heart rate increases to close to 100bpm. Fokr the moment, I've stopped taking Levo until I see my endocrinologist shortly. I don't know what the heck he's going to suggest. I'm terrified of being off thyroid meds (or having my dosage cut right down) as KNOW I'll feel awful. My last test were a week ago - bearing in mind I'd been off Armour by then for 14 days my tsh is still 0.05 and T4 is at 20. What the heck is going on? Can anyone please help?
