Guest guest
Well my gp eventually gave in and presribed me T3 after asking for 4 weeks!! He went on about the cost of it then saying that he didnt agree with me having stopped the thyroxine and wouldnt prescribe anymore t3 til i have bloods done to see if its working!! I said just look at me i have a clear head have more energy surely that speaks for itself. Lets just hope my blood tests come back positive what am i asking for? also i need to know the other things i need testing for? Surely no blood test can come back as bad as my last one tsh 42. Guest guest
Dee, remember not to take any thyroid hormone replacement for at least 24 hours before you have your blood drawn, otherwise, your free T3 will show very high in the reference range - your doctor will start quaking in his shoes, thinking that you are going hyPERthyroid and will try to cut down your dose. T3 has a very short half life of about 2 days in humans, but it peaks in the blood 2 to 4 hours after taking it. Doctors know that people suffering with hyPERthyroidism have high T4 and T3 and very suppressed TSH and they therefore get scared when they see their patients with such results. Your TSH will be suppressed because your pituitary recognises that there is sufficient thyroid hormone in the blood so therefore your pituitary gland has no need to secrete TSH to tell the thyroid gland to secrete more thyroid hormone. You might need to explain this to your GP if he starts to go on abouot your low TSH. You need to test the following to see if the levels are low in the range: ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Once you get these results, post them here on the forum together with the reference range for each test. Luv - Sheila Well my gp eventually gave in and presribed me T3 after asking for 4 weeks!!
