Guest guest
Or should I treat this more rigorously with medication? Do I need to come off HC? (slowly) Any advice would be great. I would treat the thrush rigorously, (garlic, nystatin, pro biottics ect) and stay on the HC. Have you changed your diet to a non sugar, low carb? How have your temps been recently, are they low/stable ? For me im treating the candida to keep it under control, until i raise my thyroid meds enough to raise my temps and to make my body no longer a breading ground for candida (low body temps and sluggish digestive system) Steve
Guest guest
Hi Judy, do you have Hashimoto's disease (antibodies to your thyroid). There is another autoimmune disease that goes along with being hypothyroid and many, many people suffer with this, though not a lot talk about it. It is called Lichen Sclerosis. Many people mistake this for vaginal thrush but it really is much, much worse, and can only be treated with a steroid cream such as Dermovate. I know, because I have suffered with this and I know lots of other members who also have had it. It can only be properly diagnosed by the doctor taking a small piece of tissue from the labia in an outpatients clinic and sending it to the hospital laboratory. Another problem can be Lichen Planus, similar to Sclerosis. Read more about this here http://www.lichensclerosus.org/ Don't treat this on your own until you have an official diagnosis because what you use for candida or thrush will not work on LS or LP. Luv - Sheila Hi, I am on week 8 of changing from Erfa to T3 and also taking Cortef. I have slowly increased T3 and now take 62.5mcg and Cortef 15mg. I've had a saliva test for adrenals stress and I am very low. I've been hypothyroid for 17years, 15-16 years on Levothyroxine and the last five years feeling dreadful. I have been feeling really great on T3 and HC but have hit a problem. This week I started with vaginal thrush and also my tongue, mouth and throat are sore, tongue not furry and no spots in mouth but I do think it could be thrush. Guest guest
hi Sheila, I don't know if I have Hashimoto's even though I have seen two endocrinologists I can't remember either taking about this. I do know from a scan a few years ago that I have very little thyroid left so maybe I do. I'm going to contact my current endo and ask him. Thanks for the info on Lichen Sclerosis. Can my GP do the test for this? or if not who do I need to be referred to? Judy > > Hi Judy, do you have Hashimoto's disease (antibodies to your thyroid). Guest guest
Hi Steve, My temps are low but raising, still think I need more T3 but taking it slowly increasing. Also temps through the day are not steady and low but only started checking this in the last week. Are you taking HC? How long? Guest guest
Hi Judy, your GP will need to refer you, probably to the Gynaecologist in Outpatients Clinic. They gave me a wee local injection (OUCH!) and then removed a little piece of tissue still (OUCH!) and then sent it off to the lab. Do you know if you have any little white patches, which is usually a sign of tissue atrophy. However, if it is found you do suffer with LS, be assured that the steroid cream Dermovate is wonderful, and it works. It would be good to know whether you have thyroid antibodies, because having one autoimmune disorder usually means you are likely to suffer with other autoimmune disorders.
