Guest guest
Hi and Happy New Year to everyone, This is a mailing to address Dr. Maniar's query: Mumbai has several groups for Positive People. 1) One of the oldest is the Salvation Army group at Byculla, Sankli Street. 2) Maharashtra Network of Positive People at the BMC Eye Hospital also has separate groups (I think) for males and females 3) Swayam Siddha Sanghatana based at Parel also has support group meetings 4) Committed Communities Development Trust has groups specifically for women and for CSWs. 5) Sevadhan (Andheri) and Sankalp (Bombay Central) do work with drug users. 6) Other organisations that have groups are World Vision India (Andheri) and perhaps Apnalaya (Shivaji Nagar) 7) Dr. Prakash Bora has a large meeting once every three or four months for people who are infected as well as family members where it is easy to lose oneself in the crowd and not be directly identified. These are the most active ones and most are members of the NGO AIDS Forum in Mumbai. Many of these organisations are also located across the city and there is some degree of co-ordination between all of them. So referrals to one usually means that clients enter a network of services.
