Guest guest
Perhaps the endocrinologist recommending a trial of 5 days of just 5mcgs of T3 knows exactly what he is doing - knowing his patient will feel worse on that dose, and in future, she will stop nattering him for a trial of T3. It seems it is their duty to ensure that patients suffering the symptoms of hypothyroidism are not given any form of T3 and only given T4, which isn't even a hormone. it is a prohormone. Luv - Sheila Hi Nick: I agree with you about feeling worse on very low dose T3. I'm experiencing the same thing on 12.5 mcg. What do you think is the minimum level at which, on balance, you start to become less hypo? Regards. Whitmore. > That may be little enough to make you feel worse! > > It can end up suppressing TSH a little, lowering your own production, > and not replacing what it reduces it by. > > If you are going the T3 route you need to be able to add enough each > time you feel hypo to stay ahead of the decay in T4 levels. > > I'm warning you of this so if it happens you don't think T3 isn't > working for you > >
Guest guest
Actually, I didn't know you could get 5mcg 3 tablets in the UK. Were the tablets in 20 or 25mcgs and do you have to cut them into four? They are usually 25mcgs tablets (or 20mcgs) and you have to cut them in two and start taking 12.5mcgs (or 10mcgs) for a week, and if no adverse reactions, add the other 12.5 (or 10) mcgs daily. Stay on that dose for about another 7 to 10 days and then increase by another 12.5 (or 10) mcgs daily. Best to take split twice daily because of the short half life. If you start to get symptoms of palpitations, dizziness, sweating, dire-rear or feeling just plain awful, then don't take any more that day and the following day, go back on the dose you were on before the increase. If you do well, you will need to email the GP and ask for a prescription for a full months tablets, but at the dose you have found works well for you. Luv - Sheila (1) I didn't ask - he offered and (2) the GP wrote the prescription in an ambiguous way with the result that I have 20 days dose at 5mcg, which means I can start at 5mcg and then play with the dose...does it? However, I do question what is going on as have had my next endo appt through for June. Surely you can't give someone a trial of meds and then not see them for 7 months?! He did ask me to 'let him know how I get on' so the e mail will be red hot as soon as I get a reaction, good or bad. Can I/should I play with the dose?
