Guest guest
Dear Dolly I'm not sure about the injection but getting your vit D levels up should make a huge difference to your energy levels and general state of wellbeing. I had v low vit D in April (5 - that's quite low) and thought I had a terminal illness or depression, unfortunately the GP said she couldn't give me an injection and instead gave me tablets - it took a couple of months but I was a new woman. I am now a new hyperthyroid woman and my naturopath (sorry Sheila) thinks there is a link between low vit D and hyperthyroid - has anyone else come across this?.... I know D3 is a type of hormone and linked to your endocrine system but not sure of how it all fits together! good luck - please let us know how you get on j x
Guest guest
Thanks Jo You seem to be another person who has corrected their levels relatively quickly with tablets. I have been taking 1.000iu since the end of April, so nearly six months, and am still deficient. Add that to my ferritin deficiency that four months on iron tablets has still nowhere near corrected and the fact that I took a multivitamin daily for 21 years and was still deficient in ferritin, D and B12, makes me think I may have an absorption problem, but I tested negative for coeliac. Having such a bad time at the moment with joint and muscle pain - would like to thiknk this jag may make a difference to that. With the tablets a I regained some movement in arms and hips early on but lost it again during a trial of thyroxine and haven't got it back. Wait and see I guess. Guest guest
I was found to have very low vitamin D levels a couple of years ago. As I am ultra-sensitive to medication it was felt that injections would be too much for my system to cope with, so my GP prescribed some tablets. I kept on these for nearly a year but my vit D levels didn't improve at all - clearly a problem with absorption. However, I then tried a liquid supplement from BioCare that is meant to be good for those with malabsorption - and my vit D levels are gradually improving. Guest guest
Hi Jo, Yes I've read about Vit D and hyper somewhere, thinks hyper depletes it along with everything else. How's your treatment going....are you still getting hyper symptoms?
