Guest guest
Hi all, Thanks again to Sheila, and for their answers to my questions... I've just started on DHEA prior to starting to test the water with Armour. I've been taking Vit D3, B6, E, B12 together, and iron & Vit C at a separate meal. And then some extra calcium. (all of these at the recommended doses, which is quite high.) With just this for the last week or so, I'd started to feel much more energetic. This is the third morning I've taken 20 mg of DHEA on an empty stomach in the morning. Yesterday and today, I've been unbelievably tired. Could this be to do with my fatty liver (my enzymes are a bit up)? Or is it just that in the early period of making any changes, there's often a period of adjustment where you feel awful? Guest guest
Hi , Have you had a 24 hour salivary adrenal test to see where both your levels of cortisol and DHEA lie. DHEA should not be taken by people with cortisol deficiency as unbalanced DHEA intake may worsen these conditions. An accumulation of DHEA in the liver can occur, but taking it for only 3 days at 20mgs daily should not cause a problem so quickly. Progress with DHEA treatment is slow to come, very slow. Most patients report the first improvements after 3 to 4 months of therapy. Others only after 6 months! Six months are necessary to obtain the full effects from DHEA therapy. An estimated 30 to 50% of patients taking DHEA at small physiological doses do not feel much change with the therapy. Explanations for this may be that the dose is too low, or the deficiency is so mild that DHEA treatment does not make any noticeable difference. With you taking it for only three days, I doubt very much this is the explanation for your tiredness. Both iron and calcium should be taken at least 4 h ours away from your other supplements ESPECIALLY THYROID HORMONE REPLACEMENT.
