Guest guest
I've just managed to complete the questionaires and my scores are as follows: Adrenal 1.9 (moderate severity) Magnesium 48 (likely low mag) Candida: 280!! (an almost certainty yeast is involved) Can you really have all these?? their symptoms/questionaires are very similar, please tell me it's probably just that. It's bit overwhelming for me to think I may have multiple problems, I wouldn't know where to start with meds/supplements.
Guest guest
You need to get tested by Genova to see if you have Candida Antibodies and it does sound as if you need to start treatment, and especially the Candida Diet to do everything you can to get Candida out of your system, because it is a fact that thyroxine is absorbed through the gut, and with candida, it can't be absorbed. have a look at the candida/thyroid document in our web site written by Dr Peatfield. Go to www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' and then click on 'Associated Conditions' and you will find this document listed there. While you are there, read what he has written also about the adrenal/thyroid connection so you will understand what and why this is happening to you. You are not alone, many of us also have these problems, mainly caused through having such a low metabolism. And yes, you can have multiple problems unfortunately, but take one step at a time. You can start taking magnesium supplements 250mgs daily to build this up and also Nutri Adrenal Extra from Nutri Ltd (you get 33% discount as a TPA member) to boost your adrenals, and treat your Candida. Yep, you can and you probably have.... - as Sheila has recommended, start with testing your adrenals and check for Candida with Genova, then at least you will know where you stand. It is not unusual, btw, many of us (if not most) suffer from low adrenal reserve with thyroid problems .... and Candida is part and parcel of it too. A lack of Magnesium is also very, very common.- I have all three ailments too and it does not stop there..... One tip – since you likely have Candida, look into the amount of your stomach acid as well. Have you got any intestinal problems? If so, even more reason to check your stomach acid levels (all info is in the files in Dr. Theodora Mantzourani's section). I found out recently that I am hypochloridic, if not achloridic (very little stomach acid or having as good as none). I now take hydrochloric acid tablets (Betaine HCl) with every meal and very slowly I feel an improvement with my IBS and my digestion is better. Don't be fooled into thinking you have too much acid if by any chance you suffer from heartburn or acid reflux.... symptoms for too little and too much stomach acid are identical – so unless you test, you won't know which. I am mentioning this because people with Candida overgrowth are likely to have very little stomach acid – it makes sense.... Candida thrives in acidic conditions, but can't survive the acidity of `normal' stomach acid. If you have too little, the acids are not strong enough to kill off Candida, so every single bit of sugar you put into your mouth (in any shape or form) will feed the yeast all along the journey of your intestinal tract – and that journey starts in the mouth, down the oesophagus, stomach, intestines... - you get the picture why maintaining strong stomach acid is so very important. Killing off Candida is very hard – you would have to stay off any sugar for at least 6 weeks, better for 3 months, and change your diet for good. Candida has a nasty habit of coming back once you fall back into the habit of eating sugar, so minimizing all sugars in your diet (alcohol, bread, any junk food, chocolates, soft drinks etc) will have to become a way of life. Believe me, there are no short cuts – if there were, I would have found them by now. I've been battling with Candida for years. Best of luck and please keep us posted of the results – then we can point you in the right direction re meds and supplements.
Guest guest
So do I start taking those things now? or do I wait till I get blood/saliva tests to confirm the presence of and /or deficiency? so I'd know for certain (to save spending money on something I may not need) and in the hopes I would then get prescriptions for it from my GP? Would a GP prescribe Nyastatin if blood/saliva showed Candida? Thanks Sandie > .. Guest guest
Hi, Sadly that answer is quite likely! attack the candida first as that can prevent absorption in the gut. > thyroid treatment > From: sassiegray@...> Date: Fri, 24 Sep 2010 16:32:27 +0000> Subject: Oh dear this doesn't look good> > I've just managed to complete the questionaires and my scores are as follows:> Adrenal 1.9 (moderate severity)> Magnesium 48 (likely low mag)> Candida: 280!!
