All things considered, I'd say 60 Minutes improved prospects for a serious look at vaccine injuries, esp. MMR. By illustrating the baby's good health with the family video contrasted with the young boy's current behaviors, as well as making the point of autism increase with introduction of the MMR, CBS did better than most. ABC usually wimps out on any major issue involving children, nearly always concluding, no matter the overwhelming evidence they've just shown, with something like: "Well, it is such a difficult subject; we'll just have to wait and see."

Re: Relenza's skyrocketing cost combined with shutting down the ish doctor trying to offer single shots of MMR components: FOLLOW THE MONEY.

It may be only supply and demand which has flu vaccine vials costing more. However, remember when doctors tried to stop giving the DPT and supplies were so low because manufacturers "were not making it"? It makes sense that liability issues drive costs up, backward and forward. There is too much chance of being sued: therefore, try to avoid making OR giving it.

In the case of the MMR, wonder what chances are that demanding all three be given together is less for the efficiency and economy of catching the little kid while the mother is likely to be bringing the baby to the doctor than for a "divide and conquer" cover for manufacturers and those giving the shots.

Translated: if one is unable to get single shots spaced far enough apart to identify which created injury, then, gee, it's just one of those mysteries "we may never be able to explain" when the triple whammy fells the child. Maybe there is a method in the madness, one we'd call CYA. That's a far cry from anything remotely related to the health of the child. It is more probable they don't want families playing roulette with their wallets.
