Guest guest
Hi Kay, With psych symptoms that bad, I wouldn't take any chances. I would decrease her dose of antibiotics, possibly even stop them for a day or so, and see what happens. Yes, it's good if it's herxing, but sometimes herxes become too much to handle and we have to back off abx for a day or so. The stress over losing a favorite teacher may not ordinarily bring about such a reaction, but being in a weakened state because of Lyme, as we all know, can make some things seem worse than they really are. And there was someone on the List who, when she began IV abx, had a really bad time with psych symptoms. I don't remember for sure, so I don't want to mention a name in error. In my humble opinion - we do NOT have to be " super lymie " during all of our herxes - sometimes they really do become too intense and we need to take a short break. Trust me - we will herx again. In fact, many of us pulse our abx just for that reason. Good luck Kay and I hope I've been of some help. I know how horrible it is to watch our children go through so much pain and suffering. Take care and know that we're here for you. Guest guest
Kay, I didn't realize Meredith is so young.. For some reason, I was under the impression she was fifteen years old. Oh, poor kid.. That makes it even harder. It always helps to talk with other kids who have same disorders.. Can she talk? If so, perhaps she could use VRT the whole time so there is no need to read. Hmm, I don't know if VRT includes computer reading aloud the texts, too. If not, then there is some programs the blind people use.. I don't know if it s prohibitively expensive or not. I don't even know if it is practical in your situation. It may be prudent to take her off the abx if the herx is causing this severe reaction. But it could also be a symptom of lyme disease itself.. Sometimes it is not easy to distinguish between an herx reaction and a lyme symptom. Is she taking meds for her depression? I hope you will find online support for parents with kids who have lyme. They react differently to meds than adults because their metabolism are much higher, they are still growing, and they are much smaller than us. good luck and hugs, elizabeth In a message dated 99-08-09 12:46:19 EDT, you write: << >>>Being a teenager is tough enough without dealing with lyme disease. You are at my goal. What a wonderful 40th birthday gift to yourself. I should only hope to still be in that shape at 40 (I'll be 33 this year so not so far off). I'm sure their are exceptions (those with genetic anomalies) but low to mid teens I think is absolutely ideal. Has anyone noticed since starting this how out of shape " regular " thin models look? I mean those not in fitness related magazines. They are thin with no muscle tone at all. No fat but no muscle either. They are probably all dead on their feet from lack of food and diet pills. I was never more than 6 days away from a big bag of M & M's, cheese dip and chips and lots more junk food. >> Wow, you really ate all that and still got your great results? Now I really feel I can do this! Tell me Sara, did you also use all the supplements during your first Challenge? Or was it mostly following just the diet and exercise. The book doesn't say much about supplements and makes it seem that they are not necessary to achieve good results. Do the PhenFree (Beta-Lean) and Creatine supplements really make that much difference? I dont need to get really low on bodyfat and I'm not officially entering the challenge. I just want to get toned and lose excess fat. Can I get pretty good results without supplements?
Guest guest
, I'm thrilled that my photos can inspire you! That photo shoot was my 40th birthday present to myself and I'm so glad I did it. One of my goals in Jan. was to be in my best body ever by my birthday in July. I live in a beach resort town and am always in a swimsuit so I was determined to have a body to be proud to be on the beach with. I really did PIG OUT on my free days during that first challenge. I am a candy-holic and I ate so much candy on those days. Lots of M & M's, Sugar Babies, Three Musketeers, Hershey Kisses, etc. I also got my fill of chips on those days, too. Rarely did anything healthy pass between my lips. The only supplements I used (and still do) were Myoplex Lite shakes and Precision Protein powder. I do occasionally (not much at all) eat a Myoplex Lite bar. You may have heard me say before that I didn't have a lot of fat to burn so I didn't feel like I needed PhenFree (BetaLean wasn't available then but ephedra scares me) and I didn't want to start using creatine (Betagen) and get great results and feel like I'd need to continue to use it forever. I knew I was looking for a lifestyle that I could live with and afford. And, I've found it! The shakes are affordable for me and I love working out so little compared to what I used to. Those before pictures of mine are taken after TWO YEARS of walking FAST at least 5 nights a week for 45 minutes and working out 3 days a week for 1 1/2 hours a day! BFL is a much more efficient way for me along with MUCH better results! Let me know if I can help you any. Sara -

Guest guest
elr: i guess we'll need to wait for the figures to come in first, like say a 65% or higher success rate or something to that effect, or maybe lower/fewer sides than the existing pegylated tx. i've gone to the site but they don't seem to mention lab test results in terms of statistical data. but their argument against synthetic interferon seem to hold some water, though. ===== biggrick@... writes: > viragen.com has promising news ________________________________________________ ¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥« ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Live your life so you won't be ashamed to leave your family parrot with the town gossip ________________________________________________ ¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥«¤»§«¤»¥« ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Guest guest
Hello-- It seems possible your patient has bipolar disorder, and possibly he has been prescribed the wrong medications. In the " old days, " Lithium was the treatment of choice. Nowadays, you can see a combination of an anticonvulsant, and antidepressant, and an atypical antipsychotic, such as Tegretol, Paxil, and Seroquel. (And sometimes a psychiatrist will get lazy and not mention to titrate the Seroquel, effectively knocking the patient on his butt for the weekend.) Possibly any eeg neurofeedback would also be oriented toward bipolar disorder. Thanks, Gene ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 1 Date: Thu, 6 Nov 2003 04:53:35 -0800 From: " Shuel " <steve.shuel@...> Subject: Insomnia I'm new to neurofeedback so I would welcome any response here. I'm a Chiropractor who does quite a bit of nutritional and metabolic work..... I have a patient I've been working with who has serious depression, anxiety and MAJOR insomnia ...he can go literally weeks even months at a time getting only 1-3 hours of sleep per night. We've made excellent progress with the depression and anxiety ..but the insomnia has not budged. This insomnia is a 10 year problem that he has been using very powerful prescription drugs for. He wants to get away from the drugs for a variety of reasons. My question is .......has anyone seen neurofeedback helpful in treating insomnia of this magnitude. He says when he lays down to go to sleep at night his mind " races " , oh yes, he also has ADD. He is 45 ears old. Any experience in this area would be welcome Shuel
