Guest guest Posted August 12, 2006 Report Share Posted August 12, 2006 Hello, my name is Barbara and I live in the metro Atlanta area. I was diagnosed with CML last month. Of course, it was a complete shock as I had a CBC to check my thyroid because I had started gaining weight for no reason. I had my first blood test today after 1 week of medicication. Very excited, WBC was down and spleen unltrasound not enlarged. I have a son getting married on the 26th and hope the fluid retention problem doesn't kick in, if it's going to, until after the wedding. I moved my parents (80 & 85) to this area 3 years ago because my Father has Alzheimers(in a home since Sept) and my Mother's health is also not good. Since she doesn't drive any longer, I have to do all the driving, going to check on Dad, doctor, groceries, etc. I'm very concerned as to the long term effect this medicine/illness will have on my energy level. I have spent many hours on the internet learning about this type of cancer. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Anyone in this group in the Atlanta area?
