Child abuse???????? For " forcing " BF??????

Does anyone know the outcome of this???

That is so sad they took him away from his

mother! Anyhow, my husband, who is from India,

said it is not too uncommon to see a 5-6yr old

nursing.

If possible this should be forwarded to that judge.

The natural weaning age of a child (when a child naturally weans

themselves, on average) is between 5 and 7 years of age. The United States

is the only society who encourages weaning earlier. Those numbers are from

the World Health Organization...Sharon

In Germany people are more comfortable about it. Nursing for at least one

year is The Thing there and going beyond that is also widely accepted.

In one book I recently read (I can't remember which because I've read so

many), it said unless a mother has another child, usually her milk will dry

up around age 6 or so, regardless of continued nursing because the body

just doesn't product without the boost of another pregnancy. This is known

by watching parents in India, where the longer a child is nursed, the

better, so some children nurse until age 9 or 10.

My best guess is I read this in " Mothering and Fathering " by Tine Thevenin,

but it might have been another book.
